My hair becomes itchy if I don't wash it for a day

Now that living conditions are better, every household has a water heater or solar energy, so it is convenient to wash your hair and take a bath. In fact, we don’t need to take a shower or wash our hair every day. It is enough to wash our hair or take a shower every two or three days. Because there is a layer of keratin on the surface of human skin that can protect the skin, taking a bath and washing your hair too often will damage this layer of keratin. But some people find that they wash their hair every day, but their hair is still itchy. Why is this?

There are two common reasons for an itchy scalp:

The first reason is excessive oil secretion. During the oil secretion process, the liquid oil will gradually condense into lumps. This process often occurs on the scalp, so it will feel itchy. Moreover, the oil itself is weakly acidic. If there is too much oil, the overall pH of the scalp will be weakly acidic, which will also cause some irritation.

The second reason is some inflammation of the scalp, such as the common seborrheic dermatitis. The reason is that the vigorous oil secretion gives fungi or bacteria more living space. When fungi multiply in large numbers, people will feel itchy, and this process will also produce dandruff.

For general scalp itching, just wash your scalp and adjust the oil balance to stop the itching; if the itching is caused by seborrheic dermatitis, or if the dandruff is particularly severe, you can consider professional medicines such as Kangwang lotion and selenium disulfide lotion for treatment.

In fact, the root cause of itchy scalp is excessive oil secretion, so it is important to keep the scalp clean. Don't be too lazy to wash your hair, and don't have bad habits like staying up late and eating greasy food. Otherwise, once a large amount of oil is secreted, symptoms of itchy scalp will occur at any time.

what to do

1. Don’t wash your hair too frequently, because there is a layer of self-protection substance on the surface of the scalp and hair. If you wash your hair every day, the protective layer will be destroyed and the scalp will naturally become dry and itchy. Generally speaking, if sweating is not severe and hair is not easily dirty, washing it once or twice a week is most appropriate.

2Everyone's hair quality is different, so you should choose the shampoo that suits you best. The water temperature should not be too hot when washing your hair, otherwise it will easily damage the oil of the scalp and hair, causing moisture loss and becoming dry and itchy. Be sure to rinse off the shampoo completely at the end, otherwise the shampoo remaining on the scalp will make the scalp itchy and uncomfortable.

3 When the sun is strong, you should use a parasol or wear a hat when going out to avoid direct exposure of your scalp. In addition, you should be careful not to eat spicy or irritating foods, and do not smoke or drink, etc., to avoid irritation to the scalp and itching.

4 Try to dye your hair less often, or not at all, because some inferior dyes will not only make your hair dry and brittle, but also damage your scalp, causing blockage of hair follicles and itching.

5 If the itching is severe and accompanied by a large amount of dandruff, and it cannot be improved even if you pay attention to personal details, then it is likely a fungal infection and you need to go to the hospital to get some medication.
