How to get rid of conjunctival hemorrhage quickly

How to get rid of conjunctival hemorrhage quickly

Conjunctival hemorrhage is more common in the elderly, mostly due to rupture of conjunctival blood vessels. Patients with general hypertension, acute conjunctivitis, and local conjunctival injury are prone to conjunctival hemorrhage. In addition to some pathological causes, there can also be spontaneous bleeding, often with symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, coughing, and sneezing. Therefore, once conjunctival bleeding is found, do not be lucky and seek medical attention in time to ensure your health.

Causes

Subconjunctival hemorrhage is caused by rupture of small blood vessels in the conjunctiva. It occurs after trauma and eye surgery, but more commonly it is spontaneous bleeding. Subconjunctival hemorrhage, seen in severe acute conjunctivitis, may be caused by microvascular embolism. Spontaneous bleeding is more common in the elderly, those carrying heavy objects, nausea and vomiting, severe coughing, sneezing, constipation and other causes, and can also cause small blood vessels: astatine bleeding. Scurvy, various blood diseases, purpura, arteriosclerosis, diabetes, hypertension, and high fever infectious diseases such as malaria may also occur.

When the base of the skull is fractured, bleeding extends forward along the orbital floor to the lower dome, the underlying bulbar conjunctiva, and the subcutaneous tissue of the lower eyelid. The amount of bleeding is generally large. Late bleeding in sphenoid fractures occurs more often on the temporal side than on other sites. Generally, this type of bleeding occurs after head trauma and is one of the important signs of skull base fracture.

In case of severe blunt contusion of the eyeball, large amount of subconjunctival hemorrhage, and black-red color, care should be taken to rule out the possibility of scleral rupture. Subconjunctival hemorrhage is bright red. The bleeding is flat, with clear boundaries, in the form of dots or flakes, and appears black-red when the amount of bleeding is large. There are no signs of inflammation except bleeding caused by acute conjunctivitis. The bleeding is gradually absorbed, the color changes from red to brown and yellow, and the rain disappears without leaving any trace. No local treatment is required and the lesions usually disappear within 1 to 3 weeks. For patients with repeated bleeding, the cause should be found and treated.

Disease

1. Hypertension: It is more common in the elderly. If it is combined with "subconjunctival hemorrhage", blood pressure should be measured regularly. Other patients such as diabetes or cardiovascular diseases are also prone to it and need to pay attention.

2. Acute conjunctivitis: It is caused by enterovirus type 70 and is highly contagious. If accompanied by conjunctival edema, swollen eyelids, and increased secretions, it should be highly suspected.

3. Caused by minor local injuries: for example, due to allergic conjunctivitis or dry eyes, rubbing the eyes vigorously; constipation, childbirth, lifting heavy objects, etc., which require holding the breath; and coughing caused by colds, and choking on spicy food.
