What's wrong with dry stool

For a living organism, eating, drinking, defecating and urinating are all biological instincts, because we need to eat some food to maintain the normal functions of our body and replenish some nutrients needed by our body. Similarly, after we eat food, we also need to excrete some metabolic products that our body does not need. So let’s take a look at what causes dry stool.

Defecation is a phenomenon of our physiological activities. Defecation is beneficial to detoxification and can promote our metabolism and blood circulation.

1. What is the reason for the baby's hard stool?

1. Insufficient breast milk. If the mother does not have enough milk, the baby will always be in a semi-hungry state and may only defecate once every two or three days. In addition to infrequent bowel movements, there are also signs of insufficient breast milk: breastfeeding time longer than 20 minutes, no feeling of satisfaction after feeding, slow weight gain, restless sleep, etc.

2. The protein content in breast milk is too high. The mother's diet directly affects the quality of breast milk. If the mother drinks protein-rich soups such as pig's trotter soup and chicken soup at every meal, there will be too much protein in the breast milk. After the baby eats, the stool will be alkaline, hard and dry, and not easy to excrete.

3. Milk powder is difficult to digest. The raw material of milk powder is milk, which contains a lot of casein and a high content of calcium salt. It is easy to clump under the action of stomach acid and is difficult to digest.

2. What to do if your baby has hard and dry stools

1. Do moderate exercise and do baby exercises. Insufficient exercise can also slow down intestinal motility and lead to difficult bowel movements. Mothers can often help their babies do baby gymnastics; for older babies, they can be encouraged to practice turning over and crawling by themselves, or give the baby a ball and play with him.

2. Massage your baby's abdomen appropriately: Massage the lower left abdomen. If you feel a string-like object, gently massage from top to bottom to encourage the stool to be discharged downward.

3. Proper massage of the baby's anus can also induce physiological reflexes and promote defecation.

4. If the constipation is severe, you can give your baby appropriate Chinese medicine for clearing heat, detoxifying, and moistening the intestines under the guidance of a doctor.
