What causes lower abdominal pain when running

Running is very good for the human body. It can make all the muscles in the body exercise, which can strengthen the body, enhance muscle strength and change a person's temperament. However, some people will experience lower abdominal pain when running. There are many reasons for this situation, which may be gastrointestinal diseases, internal organs or vascular diseases, etc. When faced with this situation, you should understand the cause and then take measures to treat it. Here we will introduce what is the cause of lower abdominal pain when running.

This is caused by long-term mechanical stimulation of the gastrointestinal system. The pain is usually located in the right upper abdomen, and sometimes in the left upper abdomen or lower abdomen.

If you are sure you don't have any gastrointestinal disease. Maybe you didn't warm up enough before strenuous exercise. If you have stomach pain during long-term exercise, it may be because your breathing is not adjusted properly. You can change your breathing rhythm. If you encounter this situation, stop first, massage the painful area, take a break, and then continue exercising and there should be no problem.

There are three causes of exercise-induced abdominal pain. One is intra-abdominal disease. People with liver and gallbladder diseases are prone to abdominal pain during exercise, especially strenuous exercise, due to visceral vasoconstriction, ischemia and hypoxia, and stimulation of metabolic products. One is extra-abdominal disease. Pleurisy, kidney stones, abdominal muscle strain, etc. can all cause abdominal pain. The third type is respiratory muscle spasm, because the main respiratory muscles of the human body are the intercostal muscles and the diaphragm. When the exercise is intense, the intercostal muscles or diaphragm spasm will cause pain, usually in the ribs. The cause of the pain is mostly due to not paying attention to deep breathing or breathing too rapidly during exercise. In addition, the warm-up exercises are not fully prepared, and the cardiopulmonary function cannot adapt to the needs of muscle work, resulting in respiratory muscle hypoxia, which will also aggravate the pain.

Generally speaking, the causes of exercise-induced abdominal pain are failure to control the breathing rhythm during exercise, exercising too fast, eating too much or too many kinds of food before exercise, or exercising while hungry, and low outside temperature can also cause abdominal pain.
