Symptoms of hair loss

In most cases, sha occurs in a hot environment. If sha occurs, red marks will appear on the skin, which is very obvious. Sha is caused by insufficient heat dissipation from the body due to exposure to high temperatures and is very similar to heatstroke. When we feel dizzy and nauseous in high temperatures, feel our body temperature rising, or have a pale and cold face, these are signs of sha. We must promptly rest in a cool place and replenish water.

Sha refers to an acute disease characterized by central nervous system and circulatory system disorders caused by a disorder in the body's temperature regulation function in a high temperature environment. In addition to high temperatures and exposure to the sun, excessive work intensity, long working hours, lack of sleep, and excessive fatigue are all common causes. According to the severity of clinical manifestations, heatstroke can be divided into prodromal heatstroke, mild heatstroke and severe heatstroke, and the relationship between them is gradual.

Premonition

In a high temperature environment, symptoms such as headache, dizziness, thirst, sweating, weakness and soreness in the limbs, inattention, and uncoordinated movements may occur. Body temperature is normal or slightly elevated. If you move to a cool and ventilated place in time and replenish water and salt, you will recover in a short time.

Mild

The body temperature is often above 38 degrees. In addition to dizziness and thirst, there are often symptoms such as flushed face, heavy sweating, burning skin, or cold limbs, pale face, low blood pressure, and rapid pulse. If treated promptly, recovery can often occur within a few hours.

Severe

As the name suggests, it is the most serious type of heat stroke, and it will be life-threatening if not treated in time. This type of heat stroke can be divided into four types: heat cramps, heat exhaustion, sunstroke and heat stroke.

Symptoms and characteristics of heat cramps: They often occur when there is excessive sweating and thirst, and when drinking a lot of water but insufficient salt supplementation causes a rapid and significant decrease in the sodium chloride concentration in the blood. When this type of heat stroke occurs, the muscles will suddenly experience paroxysmal spasms of pain.

Heat exhaustion

Features

This type of heat stroke often occurs in the elderly and those who are unable to adapt to high temperatures. The main symptoms are dizziness, headache, palpitations, thirst, nausea, vomiting, cold and clammy skin, low blood pressure, fainting or confusion. The body temperature at this time is normal or slightly high. Symptoms and characteristics of sunstroke: The cause of this type of heatstroke is just as its name suggests, because under direct exposure to the scorching sun, the strong sunlight penetrates the skin and skull of the head and causes damage to brain cells, which in turn causes congestion and edema of the brain tissue; since the head is mainly injured, the first discomfort that occurs is severe headache, nausea and vomiting, irritability, and then coma and convulsions may occur. Symptoms and characteristics of heat stroke: Some people engage in physical labor in a high-temperature environment for a long time, causing their bodies to produce too much heat and not dissipate enough heat, resulting in a sharp increase in body temperature. In the early stage of the disease, there is a lot of cold sweat, followed by no sweat, shallow and rapid breathing, weak and rapid pulse, restlessness, confusion, and low blood pressure, which gradually develop into coma with convulsions of the limbs. In severe cases, cerebral edema, pulmonary edema, heart failure, etc. may occur.

Prevention methods

When you find yourself or others showing signs of heat stroke or mild symptoms, the first thing you should do is to quickly evacuate the high temperature environment that causes heat stroke, choose a cool and ventilated place to rest; and drink more refreshing drinks containing salt. You can also apply cooling oil, wind oil, etc. on the forehead and temples, or take Chinese medicine such as Ren Dan, Shi Di Shui, and Huoxiang Zhengqi Shui. If low blood pressure or collapse occurs, you should lie down immediately and go to the hospital for intravenous saline drip. For those with severe sha, in addition to immediately transferring them from the high temperature environment to a cool and ventilated place, they should also be quickly sent to the hospital and comprehensive measures should be taken to treat them. If far away from the hospital, the patient should be removed from the high temperature environment, wrapped in wet sheets or wet clothes and powered by a strong fan to increase evaporative heat dissipation. While waiting for transport, it is also a good idea to immerse the patient in a lake or river, or even cool him/her with snow or ice. If the patient shivers, the cooling process should be slowed down because shivering can increase the core body temperature (body temperature should be measured every 10 minutes, and the body temperature should not be allowed to drop to 38.3°C to avoid further cooling that may lead to hypothermia). In the hospital, core body temperature should be monitored continuously to ensure its stability. Avoid stimulants and sedatives, including morphine; if seizures are uncontrollable, IV diazepam and barbiturates may be used. Electrolytes should be measured frequently to guide intravenous fluid replacement. After severe heat stroke, it is best to rest in bed for a few days, as body temperature may still fluctuate for several weeks.
