Nosebleeds are a very common phenomenon. Most people think that they are just too angry and don’t take it seriously. In fact, nosebleeds are sometimes not just caused by getting angry, but may also be caused by some diseases. For people who often have nosebleeds, it is best to take it seriously and go to the hospital for examination and treatment when it occurs. What are the signs of a chronic nosebleed? 1. Sinusitis Inflammation of one or more sinuses is called sinusitis. The affected sinuses include the maxillary sinus, ethmoid sinus, frontal sinus and sphenoid sinus. This is a disease with a high incidence rate in the population and affects the quality of life of patients. Sinusitis can be divided into 2 types: acute and chronic sinusitis. Acute sinusitis is mostly caused by upper respiratory tract infection, and bacterial and viral infections may occur simultaneously. Chronic sinusitis is more common than acute sinusitis, and multiple sinuses are often affected at the same time. 2. Snoring Many people probably don’t realize that their frequent snoring is also a cause of nosebleeds. Snoring is just a normal phenomenon. In fact, it is also a disease. Long-term snoring will cause some complications, so serious snoring must be treated. When the patient's snoring volume increases to more than 60dB after falling asleep, it hinders the gas exchange during normal breathing, which is called snoring. 5% of snoring patients also have varying degrees of breath holding during sleep, which is called obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. The clinical manifestations include severe snoring, breath holding, nocturnal apnea, sleepwalking, enuresis and daytime sleepiness, and may also be accompanied by secondary cardiovascular and respiratory complications such as hypertension, cardiac hypertrophy, and arrhythmia. 30% of patients have varying degrees of chronic lung damage in lung function tests. In addition, there are also emotional depression and forgetfulness. 3. Nasal polyps Nasal polyps are a common nasal disease that occurs more frequently in adults and are often found in the maxillary sinus, ethmoid sinus, middle nasal meatus, and middle turbinate. If you often have nosebleeds, check whether you have nasal polyps. Although it is a common disease in daily life, if you delay treatment for a long time, it will lead to other hidden dangers. Therefore, if nasal polyps appear, timely conditioning and treatment can prevent nosebleeds. 4. Cardiovascular It is reported that hypertension is the cause of nosebleeds in 10% to 25%. Generally, nosebleeds caused by hypertension occur in the early morning or after activities. Because the bleeding site is in the posterior nasal cavity, and the blood pressure is very high, the blood vessels are inelastic and the bleeding is more severe. When the patient sees a lot of bleeding, he will become nervous and his blood pressure will rise, leading to continuous bleeding. 5. Febrile illness When you suffer from diseases such as colds, tonsillitis, pneumonia or mumps, you will have symptoms of high fever. At this time, the blood vessels in the nasal mucosa will become congested and swollen, and even cause capillaries to rupture and cause nosebleeds. 6. Blood system diseases In some blood diseases, such as thrombocytopenic purpura, aplastic anemia, hemophilia, leukemia, etc., nose bleeding is often an early symptom. 7. Rhinitis An inflammatory manifestation that occurs in the nasal mucosa and submucosal areas, mostly in a chronic form. The main symptoms are swollen and congested nasal cavity, nasal congestion, and excessive mucus. When it develops more seriously, it can also cause people's sense of smell to decrease, cough with phlegm, and even cause nosebleeds. |
