Dangers of automatic parking

Dangers of automatic parking

Nowadays, more and more families are buying cars, and many people choose to travel by car, which is more convenient than driving by themselves. With the continuous upgrading of production technology, people now require less technical skills when driving. For example, many cars now have automatic parking functions. Once this function is activated, there is no need to pull the handbrake when the car is waiting at a red light, which makes the operation much simpler.

Automatic parking hazards

1. If the automatic parking function is still turned on when reversing, it means that the vehicle cannot be controlled to move slowly by lifting the brake. If the throttle is not controlled well, an accident may occur;

2. The early automatic parking function would cause obvious jerkiness when used, and the user experience was not good. However, this drawback has been improved a lot in recent years.

Advantages of automatic parking

1. When encountering a traffic light or other situation where a short stop is required, the system will automatically brake the wheels after the vehicle stops to prevent the vehicle from slipping;

2. When starting uphill, the system will automatically brake to prevent slipping, and after starting, the system will automatically release the wheels and move forward directly;

3. There is no need to pull the handbrake when parking and locking the car. The system will automatically brake the wheels at this time, but this is only seen in some models.

How automatic parking works

The automatic parking (AUTO HOLD) function is an extension of the vehicle stability control system (ESP). It controls the four-wheel brakes through ESP. During this process, the ECU computer will obtain the levelness of the vehicle body and the torque of the wheels through the sensors installed on the vehicle, so as to determine whether braking is needed to prevent the vehicle from slipping. The braking force applied to the wheels is not very large, just enough to stop the vehicle from moving, so that when you step on the accelerator again to move forward, there will not be too serious forward movement.

What is automatic parking?

The English name of the automatic parking system is AUTO HOLD. Some car models have the button marked directly as "AUTO HOLD", while some car models have a pair of semicircles with an "A" inside a circle. The AUTO HOLD function on almost all models is not turned on by default, but needs to be manually activated by the driver.
