Poor dyeability. Because there is no specific dyeing group on the polyester molecular chain and its polarity is small, it is difficult to dye and has poor dyeability, and dye molecules are not easy to enter the fiber. But the color fastness is good and not easy to fade.

Poor hygroscopicity. Polyester fabric has poor moisture absorption and feels stuffy when worn. It is also easy to carry static electricity and get dusty, affecting its appearance and comfort. However, it is very easy to dry after washing, and its wet strength hardly decreases, it does not deform, and it has good washable and wearable properties.

Prone to pilling. Polyester fabric is one of the current artificial synthetic fiber products. All artificial synthetic fiber fabrics will have the phenomenon of pilling. Polyester fabric, as a kind of artificial synthetic fiber, is of course no exception, so polyester fabric will pill after being used for a period of time.

Poor melting resistance. Polyester is the most heat-resistant fabric among synthetic fabrics. It is thermoplastic and can be used to make pleated skirts with long-lasting pleats. At the same time, polyester fabrics have poor melting resistance and are prone to forming holes when exposed to soot, sparks, etc. Therefore, you should try to avoid contact with cigarette butts, sparks, etc. when wearing.

Good elasticity. Its elasticity is close to that of wool, and it can almost completely recover when stretched by 5% to 6%. The wrinkle resistance is better than other fibers, that is, the fabric does not wrinkle and has good dimensional stability. The elastic modulus is 22~141cN/dtex, which is 2~3 times higher than nylon.

Good heat resistance.

Polyester has a smooth surface, tightly arranged internal molecules, and a lack of hydrophilic structure between molecules, so its moisture regain is very small and its moisture absorption performance is poor.

Good wear resistance. Its abrasion resistance is second only to nylon, which has the best abrasion resistance, and is better than other natural and synthetic fibers.

Good light resistance. Its light resistance is second only to acrylic.

Corrosion resistant. Resistant to bleaches, oxidants, hydrocarbons, ketones, petroleum products and inorganic acids. It is resistant to dilute alkali and mildew, but hot alkali can decompose it.

Polyester fabric is high in strength. The strength of short fibers is 2.6-5.7 cN/dtex, and that of high-strength fibers is 5.6-8.0 cN/dtex. Due to its low hygroscopicity, its wet strength is basically the same as its dry strength. Its impact resistance is 4 times higher than that of nylon and 20 times higher than that of viscose fiber.
