What kind of moles should be removed

What kind of moles should be removed

Most moles are benign, and many people in life don’t care too much even if they have moles. However, out of my natural love of beauty, I choose to remove some moles. For example, Nevus of Ota, which is an extremely large mole that greatly affects the patient's mood, is recommended to be removed. However, according to modern medicine, some moles must be removed. For example, some malignant moles and some moles that are prone to malignant transformation require immediate medical treatment.

There are some special indications for whether to remove a mole:

Junctional nevus itself is not an indication for excision. Most nevi on the palms and soles are junctional nevus, but they are too common and the possibility of malignant transformation is very small, so routine preventive excision is not required. Clear indications for excision are as follows: pigmented lesions in adults, moles subjected to chronic mechanical stimulation, or pre-existing moles that show the following changes: overall deepening of the lesion or expansion of its area, the appearance of a flat, dull area of depigmentation within the mole, red inflammatory changes around the mole, rapid growth, ulceration, itching, serous exudation, or bleeding after a slight injury. Mole excision is best performed using the cold knife method rather than cautery to prevent tissue degeneration and heat-induced special staining reactions. Incomplete mole excision can lead to local recurrence, and the recurrent lesions often have borderline activity, which may appear during recurrence even if the primary lesion does not. In addition, the nuclei of recurrent nevi are enlarged and the nucleoli are prominent, which can easily be misdiagnosed as malignant melanoma with regression. Giant congenital nevi have a high probability of becoming malignant, so early surgical removal is recommended. If the lesion is too large, it must be removed in stages.

.What kind of moles need to be removed?

A mole is formed by the aggregation of melanocytes located at the junction of the epidermis and dermis of the skin. Depending on the number of mole cells, the mole can be higher than the skin surface or level with the skin, and can vary in size and location. The reason for removing moles is partly to prevent them from becoming malignant, and partly to remove some pigmented moles that are detrimental to one's appearance. In general, moles that are damaged by repeated friction should be given some attention.

For example, moles on the soles of the feet, palms of the hands, and perineum are more likely to become malignant. In addition, moles in other places that are easily rubbed by clothes, such as the waist and neck, should also attract people's attention. Melanin, known as the "king of cancer," often occurs on the palms, soles of feet, etc. Therefore, pigmented moles on the hands and feet need to be treated with caution and examined as early as possible. If necessary, their removal can be considered. For moles located in areas prone to friction, be as gentle as possible when washing your face, bathing, shaving, or having a haircut. Do not rub them hard to avoid scratching them.
