Fumigation method to remove formaldehyde

Fumigation method to remove formaldehyde

Many families worry about excessive formaldehyde content affecting human health after renovating their new homes, so they try to remove formaldehyde through various methods. However, although it is easy to say that removing formaldehyde is easy, people are often confused when it comes to choosing specific removal methods, and they don’t know which methods can quickly and effectively remove formaldehyde. Some people said that you can cut some onions, some said to put a few basins of water in the house, and some said to use high-temperature fumigation.

1. Several misunderstandings about formaldehyde removal

Myth 1: Cut onions to remove formaldehyde

Onions have no function of removing formaldehyde at all. They just use their own smell to cover up the odor of decoration. No matter how long we put them or how many onions we put in, it will not work.

Myth 2: Put a few basins of water to remove formaldehyde

Water does have some formaldehyde removal function, but its efficiency in removing formaldehyde is far behind the efficiency of formaldehyde release in the home.

Myth 3: High temperature fumigation method to remove formaldehyde

Raising the indoor temperature can increase the amount of formaldehyde released, and the formaldehyde can be released away in a short time. I also tried this method for about a month, but because I was worried that the soft furnishings in my home could not withstand it and I was afraid of fire, I did not dare to turn on the small sun for too long. The room temperature was maintained at more than 30 degrees and could not go up any higher. In the end, the formaldehyde removal results were not very good and the temperature did not drop much.

2. Effective and scientific formaldehyde removal methods

Scientific method 1: All-round ventilation

Opening windows for ventilation can effectively control formaldehyde, but in fact, opening windows alone is not enough. We need to open all the doors and drawers in the house, and then blow them vigorously with electric fans. This can better remove formaldehyde and prevent formaldehyde from accumulating in furniture, leaving a great safety hazard. However, experts say that the effect of ventilation is only temporary, and the formaldehyde release period can last as long as 3-15 years, so for safety reasons, we must use it in conjunction with other methods.

Scientific Method 2: Activated Carbon

Activated carbon is a common adsorbent material that can be used to absorb formaldehyde. It is relatively cheap and has a good formaldehyde removal effect in the short term. However, activated carbon is easily saturated with adsorption and needs to be replaced regularly. Otherwise, after saturation, it will cause a secondary rebound of formaldehyde and endanger health again. It is generally recommended to replace it every 20 days to 1 month.

Scientific Method 3: Lothianite

Lotin Stone is a composite harmful gas adsorbent and decomposer with black and white particles, which can adsorb and decompose indoor harmful gases such as formaldehyde for a longer period of time. In other words, Lotin Stone can not only efficiently absorb pollutants such as formaldehyde, but also decompose these pollutants at the same time, so it will not be saturated with adsorption. Its service life is more than 3 years, and it can purify the air continuously for a long time when placed at home.

Scientific Method 4: Phytopurification

Plants can not only decorate the home space and adjust the atmosphere, but also have a certain function of purifying formaldehyde, so everyone likes to use this method to remove formaldehyde. However, the purification efficiency of a few pots of plants placed at home is too low, so it is not recommended as the main means of removing formaldehyde, but only as an auxiliary method.
