What are the symptoms of throat polyps

The throat is very important to the human body, so everyone should do a good job of daily care, and do not shout frequently to avoid hoarseness. In severe cases, it may induce the growth of polyps in the throat. The cause of polyps in the throat is often congestion and edema of the vocal cords after a cold, or long-term smoking and drinking, etc. So what are the symptoms of polyps in the throat?

First, what are the symptoms of throat polyps? The main manifestation of vocal cord polyps is varying degrees of hoarseness. In mild cases, there are intermittent voice changes, fatigue in voice, dull and rough timbre, difficulty in singing high notes, and easy singing out of tune; in severe cases, there is hoarseness or even loss of voice. Giant polyps may be accompanied by difficulty breathing and laryngeal hyperactivity. Vocal cord polyps are mostly single or multiple on one side. Large ones can block the glottis and cause breathing difficulties, affecting pronunciation. Generally, vocal cord nodules in children do not need to be treated for the time being, but nodules or polyps in adults usually require surgery to treat.

Second, the differential diagnosis method for laryngeal polyps: vocal cord nodules. The differentiation between vocal cord polyps and vocal cord nodules is mainly based on clinical macroscopic morphology. Typical vocal cord nodules are symmetrical nodular protrusions at the junction of the anterior and middle 1/3 of the bilateral vocal cords. In the late stage, they appear as small grayish-white protrusions with a smooth surface and a firm feel, about half the size of a grain of rice. Vocal cord cyst. Including retention cysts, epidermoid cysts, etc. The cyst is hemispherical, with a smooth surface, grayish white, slightly yellow or light red. The cyst wall is generally very thin and may feel fluctuating when touched. It can be distinguished by stroboscopic laryngoscopy. Laryngeal papilloma. It is a common benign tumor of the larynx, generally believed to be caused by viral infection, and can be single or multiple. The tumor is pale, light red or dark red, and the surface is often mulberry-shaped or just rough and uneven like villi. Those with pedicles often move up and down with the respiratory airflow and can be identified through pathological examination.

What are the symptoms of throat polyps? In the early stage of the disease, tissue fluid accumulates in the potential gap under the epithelium and at the edge of the vocal cord membrane, resulting in local edema, vascular dilation and bleeding, followed by gradual pale edema-like, translucent hyaline degeneration or fibrous hyperplasia, forming oval or round vocal cord polyps, which are divided into two types: localized and generalized.
