How to treat chest scars

How to treat chest scars

In daily life, people all hope that their skin is smooth and elastic. However, some people are prone to chest scars and are easily left with scars once they get injured. In fact, there are many ways to treat chest scars, such as laser therapy, skin grafting therapy, or using a skin expander to treat chest scars. People with chest scars can also adopt the simplest treatment method, which is to use scar removal products.

Treatment methods for chest scars:

1. Skin grafting. The grafted area feels numb, dull, and darker in color (2-10 years). If the donor area is the thigh or scalp, hair will grow there, so the grafted area will be another scar, and a new scar will be added to the donor area. The patient's recovery period is longer, the psychological pressure is greater, and the cost is higher. This method is mostly used for burn scars.

2. Skin expander. It can cover the scar, and several expanders need to be implanted in the body. Most patients will experience complications such as local swelling, pain, nausea, etc. Adjacent organs are also easily compressed and deformed, and patients have to endure great pain. They may also experience problems such as hematoma, skin blood circulation disorder, and expansion device exudate exposure. In addition, good skin becomes thinner after expansion and is more easily damaged, the patient is in more pain, the surgical treatment time is long, the cost is relatively high, and postoperative scars may occur. This method is mainly used for burn scars.

3. Surgery: If the joints of the excised parts are not handled properly, they will become uneven. Using this method on the face may cause asymmetry and produce postoperative scars. This procedure can only be used for small scars.

4. Grinding. In layman's terms, grinding is the use of a medical electric grinding wheel to grind a person's face or skin. The most important thing is the person operating the machine. Therefore, higher requirements are placed on the operator. Improper operation may cause secondary damage, that is, if the grinding is too heavy, skin defects will occur, and if the grinding is too light, no effect will be achieved. Due to the patient's physical condition, the new wound surface often causes secondary raised scars. This method is mainly used for hyperplastic scars and acne pits.

5. Inject dexamethasone. This method mainly uses injections of hormone drugs, and is generally used in smaller hospitals. Patients are very prone to rebound and relapse, and need to use it regularly and long-term. The advantage of this method is that it works quickly, but long-term use of hormones may cause harm to the body and even cause infertility, osteoporosis, etc. This method is mainly used for keloids and raised scars. 6. Radiation. The main treatment methods used for critically ill patients are X-ray irradiation and isotope patches. The characteristics are rapid efficacy, but the disadvantages are that it causes great damage to the body and the treatment is not thorough, which may cause tissue defects and depigmentation. It mainly treats inflammatory hyperplasia and keloids.

7. Freeze. Since it is difficult to control the intensity and depth during the operation, this method has a quick effect, but its disadvantage is that it is very harmful to the body and may cause tissue defects, depigmentation, and uneven skin. Mainly used for keloids, inflammatory hyperplasia and hemangiomas.

8. Chemical method. It is highly corrosive to the skin and may cause uneven skin. Tissue defects, pigmentation and depigmentation will appear after treatment. This method can be used for scars that are higher than the skin.

9. Laser treatment. There are not many lasers that can be used to treat scars. Since the thickness of scars that can be removed by laser each time is limited, several treatments are usually required, which is costly and often causes pigmentation. The creation of new wounds may result in secondary hyperplasia. This method is not suitable for the treatment of any flat, pigmented scars. It is suitable for scars without obvious functional impairment, such as scattered, uneven, sunken scars of varying sizes after healing from smallpox, chickenpox, and acne.

10. Scar removal products. There are many scar removal products now, such as well-known ones like Artistry Scar Cream and American Erosion Viagra. Although the effects are good and recognized, the prices are relatively expensive. If you are financially tight but have plenty of time, you can try vitamin C, which has whitening effects. Apply vitamin C on darker scars to whiten the scars and make them consistent with the tone of the surrounding healthy skin. But it takes a long time. ?
