Why do I have keloids on my chest

Keloid is medically known as keloid, which is a type of fibroid. The causes of keloid formation are mainly divided into primary and secondary types. Secondary keloid is more common. It is characterized by itching or tingling sensation, which is mainly distributed in the chest, shoulders, neck, back and other parts, and looks very ugly. So, why do keloids appear on the chest? Let’s take a look at the reasons below.

The two most important factors that determine the beauty or ugliness of a scar are constitution and tension.

In terms of physical condition, the most famous is keloid. This pathological scar hyperplasia is related to genetics. Once there is a wound on the body, the scar will proliferate and expand rapidly like a tumor. So far, there is no very effective treatment. The darker the skin color, the easier it is to leave scars, which is also a physical factor.

In addition to physical constitution, tension is the main factor that affects the beauty or ugliness of scars. Tension can be said to be the force that opens the wound, and the amount of scar tissue is proportional to the tension. The greater the tension, the greater the tendency of the wound to split. When the human body senses this tendency, it will produce a large amount of scar tissue in an attempt to connect the wound. The greater the tension, the more scar tissue is produced, which is the ugly red, convex and hard scar we see.

What factors affect tension? The most important thing is the direction of the wound. When the wound direction is parallel to the skin texture, the wound tension is the smallest. As long as the suture is done properly, the scar is often only a faint thin line, hidden in the skin texture and almost invisible. On the contrary, if the direction of the incision is perpendicular to the skin texture, the tension on the wound is the greatest and the scar left is the most obvious. In addition, the tension of the scar is also related to the location of the wound. If the frequency of activity is high, such as near the joints and around the mouth, the wound will easily crack due to frequent activity, which means that the tension is greater. Therefore, the scar tissue in these areas will be particularly numerous and thick.

In addition, the more prominent parts of the human body, such as the upper part of the arms (especially the arms of obese people) and the belly (such as a man's beer belly or a woman's obese protruding belly), are also areas that are prone to ugly scars. During the scar formation process, if the wound becomes infected or foreign matter enters the wound, causing the wound to be in an unstable state, the human body will automatically produce more scar tissue to try to stabilize the wound, and the scar will easily worsen and become ugly.

Classification

Scars (keloids) can be roughly divided into two categories: primary and secondary.

Primary scars (keloids) are mostly found on the chest or behind the shoulders. They start as small red dots with itching, gradually growing from small to large and from soft to hard. They are red or dark red in color and may be cord-shaped, butterfly-shaped, round or irregular in shape.

Secondary keloid scars are also called hypertrophic keloid scars, which are divided into:

Acne keloids and cancerous scars. It is mostly caused by burns, trauma, acne, infection and suppuration, or due to surgery, laser, freezing, skin grafting, and hormone drug sealing, which will cause excessive proliferation of damaged tissue and destruction and degeneration of subcutaneous tissue. The protruding skin is red or dark red with itching or tingling, and some have obvious capillaries extending outward. The symptoms tend to worsen after drinking alcohol or eating spicy and other irritating foods.
