How does an air purifier work?

Now we have to say that the air quality outside is still too low. In big cities, due to various kinds of pollution, you can hardly see blue sky and white clouds. Only in remote areas can you see the blue sky and white clouds floating. In order to protect humans from the effects of polluted air, various air purifiers are constantly being introduced. But people lack sufficient understanding of this kind of appliance, so what is the working principle of air purifier?

How it works

The air purifier is mainly composed of a motor, a fan, an air filter and other systems. Its working principle is: the motor and fan inside the machine circulate the indoor air, and the polluted air removes or adsorbs various pollutants after passing through the air filter inside the machine. Some models of air purifiers will also install a negative ion generator at the air outlet (when working, the high voltage in the negative ion generator generates a DC negative high voltage), which continuously ionizes the air and produces a large number of negative ions, which are sent out by the micro fan to form a negative ion airflow, thereby achieving the purpose of cleaning and purifying the air.

Purification principle of passive adsorption filtration (filter purification type)

The main principle of a passive air purifier is to use a fan to draw air into the machine, and then filter the air through a built-in filter, which can mainly filter out dust, odor, toxic gases and kill some bacteria. The filters are mainly divided into: particle filters and organic filters. The particle filter is divided into coarse effect filter and fine particle filter.

The quality of the fan and filter of this type of product determines the air purification effect. The location of the machine and the layout of the room will also affect the purification effect.

Active purification principle (filter-free type)

The principle of active air purifier and the fundamental principle of passive air purification

The difference lies in that active air purifiers are free from the limitations of fans and filters. Instead of passively waiting for indoor air to be drawn into the purifier for filtration and purification, they effectively and actively release purification and sterilization factors into the air. Through the characteristic of air diffusion, they reach every corner of the room and purify the air without dead ends.

The technologies for purifying and sterilizing factors on the market mainly include silver ion technology, negative ion technology, low-temperature plasma technology, photocatalyst technology and net ion group ion technology. The biggest drawback of this type of product is the problem of excessive ozone release.

Double purification (active purification + passive purification)

This type of purifier actually combines passive purification technology with active purification technology.
