Neck is tight and feels oppressive

Neck is tight and feels oppressive

Some people always feel that the neck from the chin to the collarbone is tight and oppressive. Moreover, this feeling of oppression extends from the neck to the ears, and even the earlobes feel a little stiff. The family brought the patient to the hospital for treatment, but didn't know which department to go to. Some people suggest seeing an internal medicine doctor because they think the disease is related to the brain, while others think it should be seen by an endocrinology department because they think it is a problem with the thyroid gland.

1. What is the reason for tightness and pressure in the neck?

1. You may have been infected with a cold. You can use Chinese medicine massage to dredge the meridians, promote qi and blood circulation. Be careful not to bow your head for a long time.

2. It may be related to high blood pressure. Check the brain CT scan in time to rule out cerebrovascular disease.

3. It may be due to cervical spondylosis that causes calcification or hardening of the nuchal ligament, resulting in an imbalance in muscle traction on both sides and producing the above symptoms.

4. It is generally considered to be caused by nerve strain or nerve compression. If it continues to worsen, it is recommended to have a CT scan of the cervical spine and pay attention to a regular diet.

5. In this case, possible causes include excessive neck fatigue and cervical spondylosis.

6. If there is tenderness on both sides of the neck, be alert to whether you have thyroiditis. It is recommended to do a thyroid ultrasound for a clear diagnosis.

7. It may also be swollen lymph nodes caused by pharyngitis that causes a tight feeling in the neck.

2. What to eat for cold

1. Ginger

Ginger is warm in nature and spicy in taste. It has the effects of dispelling cold, inducing sweat, relieving exterior symptoms and expelling wind. It is suitable for people with colds. People often use 3 slices of ginger, an appropriate amount of brown sugar, and boiling water to brew it, commonly known as ginger and brown sugar tea. Drinking it frequently will cure the disease by sweating.

2. Perilla

Perilla is warm in nature and spicy in taste. It has the effects of inducing sweating, dispelling cold and reducing fever. It is suitable for people suffering from colds. If people with qi deficiency catch a cold, they should use perilla leaves and rice to make a thin porridge.

3. Self-massage for cervical spondylosis

Sit down when doing self-massage. Open the thumb and put the other four fingers together, apply force with the base of the thumb, and knead the muscles on both sides of the cervical spinous process from the occipital region downwards until you can touch the upper back with your hand. Knead repeatedly for 3 minutes, then use the same technique to knead the muscles of the affected upper limb and neck, as well as the upper arm and forearm, alternating repeatedly while kneading and kneading. Sometimes you can feel a cord-like substance at the painful area. This is often the site of the lesion and can be kneaded intensively. The technique should be continuous and with slight force. It is best if you feel a sore and swollen feeling in the kneaded area. Repeat the technique for about 5 minutes, and you can switch hands.

4. What to eat for thyroiditis

1. Drink more water or beverages and eat more vegetables and fresh fruits, which will help clear away heat and detoxify.

2. Eat light and low-fat foods, and eat more protein-rich foods. You can choose eggs, milk, various meats, and fish; eat more plant protein, such as various soy products.

3. You should supplement more iodized salt and choose appropriate amounts of kelp and seaweed. You can use iodized salt, iodized soy sauce, iodized eggs and bread to add iodine.
