B-ultrasound examination showed effusion

Some women always feel that their lower abdomen is bloated and has a feeling of falling. Their leucorrhea is also abnormal. They go to the hospital for a check-up. The doctor recommends a B-ultrasound, which shows fluid accumulation in the pelvis. This pathological pelvic effusion is mostly caused by pelvic inflammatory disease or endometriosis. Common effusion phenomena can occur not only in the pelvis, but also in the chest, joints, uterus, and lungs.

1. Pleural effusion

Pleural effusion refers to a pathological change in which the fluid in the pleural cavity exceeds the normal range. Pleural effusions are divided into two types: exudates and transudates. Under normal circumstances, the pleural cavity is in a negative pressure state and contains only a small amount of serous fluid, which acts as a lubricant. There is 3ml to 15ml of liquid in the pleural cavity of a normal person, which acts as a lubricant during breathing.

2. Joint effusion

When the joints are diseased or certain systemic diseases occur, the amount of synovial fluid increases and forms joint effusion, causing joint pain and discomfort. Under normal circumstances, there is only a small amount of synovial fluid in the knee joint to nourish the articular cartilage, lubricate the joint, and reduce friction during joint movement. Joint fluid is secreted by the synovium and is constantly circulated and renewed when the joints move.

3. Hydrocele

Testicular hydrocele is a cystic lesion formed by the accumulation of fluid in the vaginal cavity surrounding the testicle that exceeds the normal amount. Clinically, hydrocele is divided into four types according to the location of the hydrocele and the degree of closure of the vaginal process: positive testicular hydrocele, communicating testicular hydrocele, spermatic caruncle testicular hydrocele, and mixed testicular hydrocele. The main clinical symptoms of the patient are: cystic masses in the scrotum.

4. Pelvic effusion

Pelvic effusion refers to the presence of inflammatory exudate in the pelvic cavity. It can occur after the endometrium becomes inflamed. It is a slightly viscous fluid that exudes from the swollen cells of the endometrial tissue and is gradually wrapped by the surrounding tissue to form a cystic mass. According to pathological factors, pelvic effusion can be divided into physiological pelvic effusion and pathological pelvic effusion. Physiological pelvic effusion is not a bad thing for women, but pathological pelvic effusion is more harmful. Pathological pelvic effusion is mostly pelvic inflammatory disease or endometriosis.

5. Uterine fluid accumulation

Uterine effusion is also known as intrauterine fluid. Uterine effusion is not common in clinical practice. Uterine effusion in patients of different ages may be caused by different reasons. The main causes of uterine effusion include uterine bleeding, endometritis, cervical adhesions, blockage, and genital malformations. Patients may experience lower abdominal pain, increased vaginal discharge and bloody secretions. Artificial abortion can also cause uterine fluid accumulation, which can be checked by B-ultrasound.

6. Pulmonary edema

Pulmonary effusion is usually called pleural effusion in medicine. The water accumulates outside the lungs. It can be caused by infection or inflammation (such as pneumonia, tuberculosis... can all be accompanied by pleural effusion), or by some autoimmune diseases (such as lupus erythematosus). Many lung diseases are also accompanied by pleural effusion.
