How to peel chestnuts

As everyone knows, chestnuts are a common snack in daily life. The rich unsaturated fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, etc. contained in chestnuts can resist aging, replenish qi and strengthen the spleen, and prevent cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases if consumed for a long time. There are many ways to cook chestnuts, such as sugar-fried chestnuts, chestnut stewed pork ribs, chestnut osmanthus porridge, chestnut braised lamb, etc., all of which are very delicious. Add some salt when cooking chestnuts, and they will be easy to peel after cooking.

Methods/Steps

Hot water soaking method: Wash the raw chestnuts and put them in a container, add a little salt, immerse them in boiling water, and cover the pot. After 5 minutes, take out the chestnuts and cut them open, the chestnut skin will fall off along with the chestnut shell. This method of removing the chestnut skin saves time and effort.

Chopstick stirring method: Cut the chestnuts in half, peel them and put them in a basin. Add boiling water and soak them for a while. Stir them with chopsticks and the chestnut skin will separate from the chestnut meat. The soaking time should not be too long, otherwise it will affect the nutritional content of the chestnuts.

Method 2

Refrigerator freezing method: After the chestnuts are cooked, cool them and put them in the refrigerator for two hours to separate the shell and the meat. This way, the chestnut skin can be peeled quickly and the chestnut meat remains intact.

Microwave heating method: Cut the shell of the raw chestnuts you bought with scissors, heat them in a microwave at high temperature for 30 seconds, and the skin and flesh inside will automatically fall off. Before using this method to remove chestnut skins, be sure to cut open the shells, otherwise it may cause microwave malfunction.

Thermal expansion and contraction method: Use a knife to peel off the chestnut shells, put them into boiling water and cook for 3-5 minutes. After taking them out, immediately soak them in cold water for 3-5 minutes. The chestnut shells can be easily peeled off and the taste remains unchanged.

Sun exposure method: Place the raw chestnuts you want to eat in the sun for a day, and the chestnut shells will crack.

Tips for peeling raw chestnuts: Put the raw chestnuts in a ventilated and dry place to air them for a few days, so that the chestnut skin will be very easy to peel. This method can also be used to make chestnuts into dried fruits. Just soak them in water before eating.
