How long after jogging can I eat

Jogging is a common aerobic exercise and a method of exercise that many people adhere to in their daily lives. For people who like jogging, there are many things to pay attention to in daily life. For example, it is not advisable to eat immediately after jogging. You need to wait a certain amount of time before eating, which is good for your health. So, how long after jogging can you eat?

1. Is it okay to eat right after running?

Don't eat right after running.

Some people think that running exercise consumes energy and they should eat immediately to replenish it. This view is wrong. The digestive system function weakens during running exercise and cannot recover immediately after exercise. If you eat immediately, it will cause the following hazards.

2. The harm of eating immediately after running

When running, the lower limb muscles exercise more, and the muscle tissue cells demand more oxygen and nutrients, which accelerates blood circulation, dilates blood vessels, increases blood flow, and the capillaries expand many times. A large amount of blood flows to the exercising muscles, while the total amount of blood involved in the blood circulation remains unchanged. The blood supply through the digestive system will decrease, causing gastrointestinal motility to slow down and the secretory function of the digestive glands to weaken. After running, the body's blood circulation cannot immediately return to normal to supply blood flow to various organs, so the digestive system function is still in a weak state. Eating immediately can easily increase the burden on the digestive organs, leading to digestive system diseases such as indigestion.

3. How long after running can you eat?

The length of the interval between the end of running and eating is closely related to the amount of exercise. If the amount of exercise is relatively large, the interval between meals should be longer. Conversely, if the amount of exercise is small, the interval should be shorter. Generally speaking, after a high-volume, high-intensity running exercise, you need to wait about 2 hours before eating. After a moderate-intensity, medium-volume running exercise, you can eat after about an hour. After a low-volume running exercise, you can eat after half an hour when the digestive system function has basically recovered.

4. Will eating after running make you fat?

After running, the body consumes a lot of calories, which will make people feel hungry and tired. They need to eat to replenish energy. Whether they will gain weight after eating depends on what they eat and how much they eat. Generally speaking, if they eat high-sugar and high-fat foods after exercise and do not control the amount, it is easy to cause the calorie intake to exceed the calories needed by the body, and the excess calories in the body will naturally be converted into fat. Therefore, after running, it is best to choose a food containing carbohydrates or protein, such as bread, milk, and fruit, to help muscle glycogen recovery and muscle synthesis. Do not eat foods high in sugar and fat, and drink less sports drinks.
