The difference between bleaching and dyeing hair

Nowadays, as people pay more and more attention to their appearance, the beauty and hairdressing industries have gradually become popular, especially the hairdressing industry, which has a constant source of customers, including those who want to bleach their hair, dye their hair, perm their hair... There are always customers who want to do all kinds of hairstyles. There is only one letter difference between bleaching hair and dyeing hair, but when compared specifically, the difference is significant. Below we will introduce to you in detail the differences between bleaching and dyeing hair!

1. Bleaching hair

It generally refers to using bleaching powder to lighten the original color of hair. The principle is basically the same as bleaching water. However, bleaching hair can cause great damage to the hair quality, so it is recommended not to bleach a large area or the entire head. When bleaching your hair, it is best not to wear dark-colored clothes, because if the bleaching powder gets on your clothes, the color of the clothes will look like they were dyed with 84.

2. Hair dye

Hair dyeing is one of the most common means of modern makeup. It uses plant pigments (such as avocado fruit, nail grass, Polygonum multiflorum, etc.) or chemical pigments to dye the hair into the desired color. It is one of the most common services in modern barbershops.

There are two main purposes of hair dyeing: one is to dye black to cover gray hair; the other is to be fashionable, change the color of hair according to mood, match it with clothes and makeup, and fully show one's personality. Hair dyeing has become a fashion. Young people can change the color of their black hair according to their mood, matching it with clothing and makeup to fully show their personality; while middle-aged people have to dye their hair black frequently because of their continuous growth of white hair.

On October 27, 2017, the World Health Organization's International Agency for Research on Cancer published a preliminary list of carcinogens for reference, and hair dye products (for personal use) were included in the list of Category 3 carcinogens.

3. The harm of hair dyeing

Firstly, oxidants are an important component of hair dyes, which have a considerable destructive effect on hair keratin and can easily cause damage to the hair. Frequent use can make hair dry, brittle, split, and easy to fall off.

Secondly, most permanent hair dyes use aniline dye intermediates, which are among the most irritating and toxic among cosmetic raw materials. No wonder some people experience allergies on the outside of their hair, around their ears, on their scalp, and other parts of their hair when dyeing their hair, and even experience symptoms such as dizziness and nausea.

Thirdly, hair dye is composed of two ingredients. When using, they should be mixed first and then applied to the hair. However, a chemical reaction occurs at the moment of mixing, producing high concentration of harmful gas - dioxin. Dioxin is a strong carcinogen recognized by the World Health Organization. It enters the body through the respiratory tract and remains in the muscles for a long time and is difficult to decompose. It interferes with the human endocrine system, and both estrogen and thyroid hormones are disturbed. Long-term exposure will lead to genetic mutations and deformities in the human body, and induce cancer and other diseases. Therefore, it makes scientific sense for women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant not to dye their hair.
