What to do if the quilt smells musty

What to do if the quilt smells musty

When clothes and quilts are stored for a long time, they will produce a strong odor due to long-term sealing. In addition, if they are not cleaned thoroughly when they are installed, they will produce a moldy smell. If the quilt is left for a long time from spring to summer and autumn, it will produce a strong moldy smell. If you want to remove the moldy smell on the quilt, you must take off the quilt cover and wash it. You can easily solve the problem by putting these in when washing.

How to remove musty odor from quilt

1. After eating snacks such as biscuits and dried fruits, take out the desiccant inside and put it together with an unused dry soap into the folded quilt. After about four or five days, the musty smell in the quilt will be completely gone. It is very practical.

2. Buy a lemon and cut it into thin slices. Then prepare a spray bottle, put the sliced lemon into the spray bottle, pour in an appropriate amount of clean water, shake it vigorously, take the quilt to a ventilated place, pat it hard, and then spray it with the lemon water you just prepared. After drying overnight, all odors will be eliminated.

3. Prepare water, alcohol, spray bottle, soft brush, and bamboo charcoal bag in advance. Mix water and alcohol in a ratio of 1:1.

After dilution, pour it into a spray bottle and then spray it evenly on the quilt to sterilize it first. Let it stand for five minutes to allow the alcohol to evaporate completely, then sprinkle yellow rice on the quilt. Gently pat the quilt and brush it twice with a soft-bristle brush. The floating dust and bacteria will be absorbed by the yellow rice. After cleaning the yellow rice, put the bamboo charcoal bag into the folded quilt and put it away. The musty smell will dissipate after a few days.

4. Take apart the quilt, wash and dry the inside and outside of the quilt, and have the cotton fluffer fluff the cotton again. If it is inconvenient to fluff, you can wash it, spin dry it in the washing machine, and then fluff it again. After filling the cotton batting, sew the quilt lining and quilt cover together so that there will be no musty smell. In the future, you should dry the quilt frequently. It is best to cover it with a quilt cover. Just wash the quilt cover when it gets dirty. Drying in the sun can kill bacteria, remove moisture and prevent mildew.
