If some people have frequent abnormal bowel movements, such as diarrhea, hard stools and other abnormal conditions, it is recommended to go to the hospital for a routine stool test in time, and symptomatic treatment after diagnosis. So, is stool testing within 2 hours effective? Let’s take a look at it next.

1. Is stool testing valid within 2 hours?

For any clinical specimen test, the fresher the sample, the better. It is generally believed that testing within two hours is acceptable, but it is best to be within 30 minutes. Some people have done some experiments related to stool routine, such as color, morphology, red and white blood cells, occult blood, parasites and stool culture. If the stool is tested within 1-2 hours after excretion, the results can be guaranteed.

2. Routine stool examination is the basic examination in physical examination

Routine stool examination is a basic examination during physical examination, but many people ignore it because it is troublesome. If you often have blood in your stool, your stool is too watery or too hard in a short period of time, your stool contains mucus or pus and blood, your stool suddenly becomes thinner or you have difficulty going to the toilet, or your stool is rice soup or milky, you need to consider a routine stool examination.

Routine stool examination includes two aspects: visual observation and microscopic examination of stool. It is of great significance for the diagnosis and treatment of digestive tract diseases and intestinal parasitic diseases.

3. Clinical significance

1. Erythrocytosis: bleeding in the lower intestine; in amoebic dysentery, there are more red blood cells than white blood cells, and the red blood cells are piled up and fragmented; in bacillary dysentery, there are more white blood cells than red blood cells, and the red blood cells may be scattered.

2. Leukocytosis: The number of leukocytosis increases significantly in enteritis and bacillary dysentery, and phagocytes can be seen. In bacillary dysentery, the number of leukocytosis may even fill the entire field of vision and may form piles.

3. The detection of parasite eggs can be confirmed as intestinal parasitic infection.
