How to clean the burnt bottom of the rice cooker

It is easy to understand that when a kitchen novice first starts cooking, there will be many things they don’t understand. For example, when cooking rice, the water droplets attached to the inner pot of the rice cooker are not wiped clean. Most of these water droplets are caused by not paying attention when washing the rice, so the cooking button is pressed directly. In the long run, the bottom of the rice cooker will easily be burnt. When using electrical appliances, you need to pay attention to these aspects to eliminate potential safety hazards. So how do you clean the burnt bottom of a rice cooker?

Cleaning method:

1. A good quality non-stick pan will not easily stick to the pan even if the food is burnt. The burnt bottom of the pan is easier to clean. Just soak it in clean water to soften it, and then scrub it with a soft brush. Do not scrub the non-stick pan with hard objects to avoid damaging the lining. If the bottom of the pot is covered with hard paste, or the quality of the non-stick pan is not very good, add clean water and white vinegar and soak it for more than an hour, then boil it on low heat for ten minutes, and you can usually clean off the black paste. Be careful not to add too much vinegar and the soaking time should not be too long to avoid damaging the pot.

2. If the enamel pot is burnt lightly, you can soak it in clean water for more than two hours and then wipe it with something like coarse cloth. If the food is completely carbonized and stuck to the bottom of the pot, you can soak it in white vinegar and water for about an hour, then boil it on medium-low heat for ten minutes, and then use a tool such as a scouring pad to scrub it. Try to avoid using hard and sharp tools such as steel wool to avoid damaging the enamel layer.

3. The cast iron pan is burnt lightly, so you can just scrub it with a steel wool. If the rice is severely burnt, use a blunt knife to scrape off the black rice crust, and then clean it again with a steel wool. Note that after wiping off the burnt bottom of the cast iron pan, do not use too much detergent or other degreasing detergent to clean it, otherwise the iron pan will lose the oil film protection and become prone to rust.

4. The casserole is not easy to stick to the pot. If the bottom of the pot is burnt during cooking, the rice crust will often not be completely carbonized. Therefore, if the clay pot is only slightly burnt, just soak it in clean water, and then scrub it when the crust becomes soft; if it is severely burnt, soak it in white vinegar and then boil it, which will often soften the black crust and you can then scrub it with a scouring pad or something similar. If the bottom of the pot is completely carbonized, you have to use hard methods, such as rubbing it with steel wool or scraping it with a dull knife. Note: do not use brute force when scrubbing hard objects to avoid damaging the pot.

5. Do not scrub stainless steel pots with sharp and hard tools as this will scratch the bottom of the pot. Good quality acid and alkali resistant stainless steel pots can be washed by soaking in white vinegar or alkali. Stainless steel pots made of poor quality should not be cleaned with acid or alkali, as this will corrode the pot wall. It is best to clean them with stainless steel cleaner.
