A dislocated arm is a very painful injury that not only makes movement inconvenient, but also causes great damage to one's body. Dislocation is generally manifested by a feeling that the shoulder is out of place, weakness and inability to move. If these symptoms occur, it is likely that the arm is dislocated, so you must pay extreme attention. 1. Causes The first type of patients with habitual shoulder dislocation have no history of obvious trauma, and may also have hyperextension and laxity in multiple joints of the body. For example, the thumb can be easily bent back and touch the forearm; the main reason for excessive extension of the elbow or knee joint is the instability of the joints caused by the congenital looseness of the body's tissues, and it is multi-directional. As for the second type, habitual dislocations caused by injuries are mostly due to obvious trauma, such as sports injuries, like throwing too hard, or encountering resistance during the throwing process, judo, wrestling and other physical contact sports; or unexpected actions such as falling with hands on the ground, or landing with shoulders on the ground, causing shoulder dislocation, almost all of which are anterior dislocations. After conservative treatment (joint reduction), dislocation or subluxation occurs again. 2. Clinical manifestations The first time I dislocated my shoulder due to an injury was a very profound experience, caused by severe pain and the feeling that my shoulder had come out and was stuck and could not move. Most people need external force (Western medicine or Chinese medicine) to "reset" the shoulder joint, while a small number of people can "pull" it back with the help of themselves or their companions. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Pathology The problem is that during the first injury, the important structure that maintains stability in the shoulder joint (glenoid labrum ligament) is torn from the edge of the glenoid and detached from the bone due to the dislocation of the joint. Although the joint was repositioned afterwards, the injured area did not heal, forming a permanent gap and unable to maintain the stability of the shoulder joint. More than 90% of shoulder dislocations occur from the front, so the detachment of the glenoid labrum ligament is also located in the anterior and inferior part of the glenoid cavity. That is why dislocations occur during shoulder raising, abduction and external rotation. In addition, as the number of dislocations increases, the joint capsule in front is "stretched" and becomes increasingly loose, making dislocations more likely to occur. Each time a dislocation occurs, the joint is injured, which will not only cause wear or peeling of the articular cartilage, but may even cause tearing of the superior labrum ligament. Most patients do not care about the instability of the shoulder joint "going in and out", and believe that as long as they pay more attention to certain bad postures or avoid certain activities, they can reduce the chance of dislocation. Some people also believe that it does not matter if the dislocation only occurs once in a long time. Some people even think that they can reposition the joint more and more on their own, so has their condition improved? Recently, more and more research reports and our own experience have shown that long-term shoulder instability and accumulated dislocations or subluxations will cause wear and tear of the articular cartilage and increase the chance of developing shoulder arthritis. |
