When cooking, it is inevitable that hot oil will accidentally jump out of the pot and get on your eyes. It is very uncomfortable for boiling hot oil to splash into your eyes, which is likely to cause damage to the mucous membrane and even burns to the eyeball. You need to go to the hospital as soon as possible to deal with the eyes, clean out the impurities in the eyes, and treat them with eye ointment properly. Mitigation methods 1. Clean the conjunctival sac. If there are foreign debris, dust, dirt, etc. in the conjunctival sac, it should be rinsed and removed with sterile saline or dilute solution of mercuric hydroxide or high mercuric chloride during the first treatment. 2. Apply 0.5% or 1% gentamicin solution or 0.25%-0.5% chloramphenicol solution to the eyes several times a day. If necessary, 10,000 to 20,000 units of gentamicin can be injected subconjunctivally. 3. Apply broad-spectrum antibiotic eye ointment, such as 0.5% tetracycline or chloramphenicol eye ointment. 4. If the abrasion area is large and the irritation symptoms are severe, weak mydriatic agents such as 2% homatropine or cyclogyl can be used to alleviate symptoms and reduce the impact of secondary iridocyclitis. 5. Bandage the injured eye, apply eye ointment, cover it with sterile gauze and add a pressure patch or pressure bandage. In order to apply slight pressure to the eyelid so that it cannot open and close with the other eyelid, rather than applying greater pressure to the eyeball. This can reduce the friction of the eyelid on the cornea and is beneficial to the repair of the corneal epithelium. The pressure bandage should be continued until 24 hours after the symptoms disappear, and the bandage should only be temporarily removed when dripping medicine into the conjunctival sac. Normally, only the injured eye needs to be bandaged, but if the abrasion is large or takes time to heal, both eyes may also be bandaged. 6. Do not use corticosteroid eye drops, frequently use surface anesthetics, or repeatedly rinse with disinfectants and preservatives to avoid delaying the regeneration of corneal epithelial cells. 7. Instruct the patient not to rub his eyes, blink forcefully, or wipe his eyes or tears with a handkerchief. 8. All eye drops, including fluorescein solution or paper strips, solutions for flushing the conjunctival sac, dressings and instruments, etc., must be strictly sterile. 9. If the pain worsens, or starts out mild but suddenly worsens, you should be checked immediately and if infection is found, it should be actively controlled. |
