As the saying goes, toothache is not a disease, but it can be fatal. It can be seen that once the teeth hurt, it will cause great pain to people. Toothache is a very common symptom of toothache. Depending on the symptoms, it can be divided into continuous pain, pain at the root of the tooth, pain caused by cold, hot, sour or sweet pain, gum pain, spontaneous pain, and pain when biting hard objects. Different types of pain require different methods to solve the problem! 1. Persistent pain The causes of pain generally include dental nerve infection caused by caries, hidden tooth cracks, crown fractures, deformed central cusps, excessive wear, retrograde infection of periodontal disease, and accidental pulp perforation, which leads to tooth pain. There is persistent pain in the gums that can be clearly located, a floating sensation in the teeth, and obvious pain when tapping the teeth or biting objects. This indicates that inflammation has invaded the root apex. The treatment is rather complicated, and the emergency principle is "decompression and drainage" - making a hole in the middle of the tooth to allow the inflammatory secretions to flow out and reduce the pressure in the pulp cavity. After taking X-rays, root canal treatment or plasticization treatment is selected according to the condition. 2. Pain at the root of the tooth There is persistent pain in the root teeth (wisdom teeth, third molars), and the pain is aggravated by touching the gums. In severe cases, the mouth cannot be opened. If the condition often causes inflammation, the "root teeth" should be extracted after the inflammation is eliminated. 3. Hot, cold, sweet, sour, and painful Teeth feel pain when exposed to cold, heat, sourness or sweetness. Remove the irritant and the pain will disappear. Pigmentation deposits on teeth, most commonly caries. There is no pigmentation on the tooth surface at the gingival margin, and the defect is deep and wedge-shaped. Both dental diseases are mild and can be improved with restorative treatment. However, if the dentin sensitivity is caused by gum recession, the treatment process is more complicated. 4. Gum pain Continuous tooth pain, accompanied by redness, swelling, looseness, and often accompanied by symptoms of food impaction, is a manifestation of periodontitis. 5. Spontaneous labor pains Spontaneous pain occurs in the gums, which cannot be located and worsens during sleep. The pain can be induced by cold or heat stimulation, and the pain continues for a while after the stimulation is removed. The pain radiates to the ear and temporal area. It means that the dental pulp is inflamed and the "rotten nerve" needs to be treated. After removing the "rotten nerve" of the tooth, root canal treatment can be performed. 6. Pain when biting hard objects Pain when biting hard objects, and a history of hitting hard objects such as stones. The teeth may have cracks, and in severe cases, the teeth may crack. The treatment plan depends on the depth of the crack: if the tooth is loose, it must be extracted. If it is shallow, it can be retained after a crown is placed. |
