How is lung cancer detected

Lung cancer must be familiar to everyone. Since some of the symptoms of lung cancer are the same as those of a normal cold, what methods do hospitals use to diagnose lung cancer? Here is a reminder that if you have special symptoms, you must go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible. Early detection and early treatment are the following methods used to diagnose lung cancer:

1. Lung cancer examination: Finding cancer cells in sputum: Finding cancer cells in sputum is a convenient, fast, non-invasive examination that is easy to promote and apply. Once cancer cells are found in sputum, the diagnosis can be established, so it has diagnostic value. Lung cancer examination is particularly suitable for early diagnosis of lung cancer in the central part of the lung. The quality of sputum and the time of submission directly affect the detection rate of cancer cells. It is best to use the first sputum coughed up from the deep lungs after rinsing your mouth in the morning and test it within 1 hour. Sputum containing blood is better, and purulent sputum should be avoided. Repeated submission can increase the positive rate.

2. Fiberoptic bronchoscopy: Lung cancer examination is particularly suitable for sputum positive for cancer cells, while chest CT is negative. In addition, the diagnosis rate of lesions near the hilum of the lung is relatively high. Fiberoptic bronchoscopy can be combined with fine needle puncture, X-ray-guided lung biopsy, etc. to further improve the positive rate.

3. Low-dose spiral CT examination of the chest: Lung cancer examination can detect tiny lesions that cannot be found by conventional chest X-rays. Some foreign studies suggest that screening lung cancer with low-dose spiral CT can significantly improve the detection rate of early lung cancer. After surgical treatment of lung cancer, most patients can be cured and survive for a long time. Special attention should be paid to ground-glass lesions and small nodular lesions on CT, which may be more significant than previous chest X-rays. New abnormal shadows on chest CT should be further examined or followed up to rule out the possibility of lung cancer.

The above are some of the methods used to diagnose lung cancer. I hope to give you some knowledge before treating lung cancer so that you can understand it. At the same time, I also hope that the majority of lung cancer patients can bravely fight the disease and recover their health as soon as possible.
