What is soft tissue injury?

Soft tissue injury, this term must have been heard by most of us. Especially those who engage in physical exercise must be familiar with it, but many people may be a little confused about what soft tissue injury is. After all, they have not encountered this kind of physical injury in their lives, so once they encounter it, they will be a little flustered. Let’s take a look at what soft tissue injury is.

Soft tissue injury refers to a large category of trauma syndromes caused by direct or indirect violence, or long-term chronic strain on soft tissue or skeletal muscles. After the tissue is injured, microcirculation disorders and aseptic inflammation occur, causing local swelling and pain.

Clinical manifestations

The main symptoms are swelling and pain. In the acute phase, there is local bleeding, edema and severe pain. In the late stage, adhesions of muscles and tendons, ischemic contracture, periarthritis, and even joint stiffness may occur.

1. Sprain refers to indirect violence that causes excessive twisting and stretching of the fascia, muscles, and ligaments around the limbs and joints, resulting in injury or tearing. It often occurs in joints and the tissues around joints.

2. Contusion refers to a direct violent blow or collision to a part of the limb, causing damage to the subcutaneous tissue, muscles, tendons, etc. Mainly focus on the directly damaged areas.

Sprains can occur in the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, fingers, wrists, knees, ankles, waist and other parts of the body. Among them, lumbar sprain is the most common, and is more common in young and middle-aged people.

If it is a general soft tissue injury, that is, there is no bleeding and no edema, then there is basically no big problem. Just massage and knead it more often and it will be fine. There is no need to go to the hospital. It may be very painful at the beginning and you may think that you have a broken finger. In that case, go to the hospital for a diagnosis first to make sure there is no problem.

If bleeding occurs, bandage it quickly, but don't tie it too tightly to avoid affecting your circulation. Try to stay comfortable. Go to the hospital for a check-up and then see if you need an IV or blood transfusion.

If edema occurs, first find some ice cubes, or buy shoe popsicles, and quickly apply cold compresses to the injured area to minimize the pain, because ice cubes have analgesic effects. Then use this time to go to the hospital for a check-up, because many conditions cannot be seen with the naked eye.

If the soft tissue is indeed very serious after examination in the hospital, then surgical treatment may be required. Only surgery can completely help the soft tissue to complete the academic cycle and avoid more serious consequences.

Treatment points:

1. Treat the symptoms and cause.

2. Physical therapy.

3. Drug treatment: choose anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs according to the condition, or apply external plasters to the affected area.

4. Surgical treatment.

5. Rest and braking in the early stage, and appropriate functional exercises during the recovery period.

After reading the editor’s introduction to what soft tissue injury is, I think everyone understands it. In fact, it refers to the problem that occurs when human bones are subjected to a certain degree of compression. At the same time, the above article introduces some treatment methods when soft tissue injuries occur. As long as you use the injured part of your body in time when you encounter it, it will not cause much harm to your body.
