What to do if the lens of glasses is damaged

Resin lenses are the most commonly used lenses in the industry today. They are thin and light, not easy to break, and therefore are very popular among people. However, no one is perfect, and such excellent resin lenses also have their shortcomings - they are easy to fade. There are many reasons that can cause lens scratches, such as the contact and friction between the lens and the table, rough wiping of the lens, and other common conditions. So what should you do if the lens is accidentally scratched?

1. You can use a water-abrasive cloth or sandpaper to gently wipe the scratches, then apply toothpaste on the roughened area, and slowly rub it with a piece of suede or something similar until it becomes transparent.

2. If the mark is small, you can use a cotton swab dipped in alcohol to gently wipe it in the direction of the scratch to cover it, or you can breathe on the lens. Rub in one direction.

3. You can use a fine cotton cloth dipped in a small amount of toothpaste, and wipe back and forth on the scratched areas of the lenses. You can only make linear movements in one direction, and avoid making circles. The force should be medium to heavy. If it is too light, it will not work. The wiping frequency can be slightly faster.

4. If you are worried that you cannot handle it properly, you can take your glasses to an optical shop to have them polished, which can also remove scratches on the lenses.

If the scratches are not very serious, you can try the above methods, which can effectively remove scratches on the lenses; but if the scratches are serious, it is better to go to an eyewear store to replace the lenses; because the quality of the lenses is directly related to the wearing comfort.

Why do glasses get scratched?

There are three main reasons why lenses get scratched:

1) Product quality reasons: many coated glasses, if the quality of the film is not good, it is easy to form uneven patterns or lines;

2) Patterns caused by falling or bumping, such as when a pair of glasses falls to the ground and rubs against the ground, forming concave spots or stripes on the mirror surface;

3) Streaks produced by wiping. When the glasses are dirty, due to not paying attention to the method during the cleaning process, convex and concave spots, or streaks will appear on the mirror surface, especially the coated mirror surface is very easy to produce patterns.
