In the south, termites always appear in warm weather, especially in old houses. They broke through the ground and walls, set up camp and reproduced in all kinds of unexpected places. This really makes life difficult for us residents. Especially for the old residents living on the first floor, there are always traces of termites on the walls of their homes. In serious cases, if you knock open a corner, you will find termites everywhere. No wonder people always say "termites eat walls". The main termites that harm houses are Coptotermes house termites. Generally, newly built houses are not infested by termites. Termites enter houses and build nests mainly by building paths in the soil and crawling into the house, and by winged reproductive ants flying in and building nests. The key to preventing house termites from entering homes and causing damage is to take targeted measures against their spreading routes. The mature nests of Coptotermes formosanus spread out in groups in April every year, especially in the hot and humid evening (19:00-21:00). The winged reproductive ants fly toward the lights, invade the room, mate and look for suitable gaps to build their nests. Therefore, during the termite swarming season, residents should take measures to prevent house termites from flying into the house. (1) If you find winged reproductive termites flying into your home at dusk, close the doors and windows immediately and turn off the lights that attract termites (fluorescent lights or other bright lights) to reduce the number of termites flying into your home. (2) If you find a small number of winged reproductive ants flying into your home, place a basin of water under the light to make the flying termites fall into the water and drown, or use household pest control agents such as Black Tornado, Bipu, Radar, etc. to spray and kill the termites. Termites cannot be completely eliminated, they can only be eliminated and prevented. If there are termites in your home, it is recommended that you find a professional to exterminate them and do not handle it yourself to avoid the spread and proliferation of termites. 1. Apply pesticides to areas where termites are present. Generally, termites will die one after another in about a week. 2. After the termites die, take preventive measures in areas of the home where termites are prone to breeding. April to June every year is the termite swarming period. Termites swarm and shed their wings to mate and reproduce, and will "settle down" in suitable places. Therefore, it is recommended to close the doors and windows of the house during this period. If swarming ants enter, it is recommended to turn on only one light or keep only one light source at home. A small basin of water can be placed under the light or at the light source. Termites are phototropic. This method can attract winged reproductive ants to the light source and transfer the reproductive ants into the water in the basin, which can effectively prevent the reproductive ants from choosing a place to build nests. |
