The reason why the big toenail is half empty

In fact, everyone knows that human fingernails can reflect the health status of the human body, and the same is true for toenails. However, people usually ignore toenails. After all, we usually wear shoes and toenails are not exposed to the outside. With the arrival of hot summer, it is time for toenails to see the light of day again. When you take off your shoes and socks, you will find that half of the big toenail is empty. What's going on? Let's find out the reasons below.

There are two reasons why toenails become hollow. One is due to the lack of trace elements in the body, mainly the lack of vitamin D and calcium, which can be improved by timely supplementation. Another reason is due to onychomycosis, because the fungal infection hides under the nail plate and causes hollowing, and is often accompanied by changes in nail color and unevenness, which can cause nail shedding in severe cases. If you suspect you have onychomycosis, you need to go to the dermatology department of a hospital for a fungal test to confirm the diagnosis. Then carry out targeted treatment

Black nails may be caused by onychomycosis. Onychomycosis, commonly known as "onychomycosis", refers to a disease caused by dermatophytes invading the nail plate or under the nail. Onychomycosis is a nail infection caused by fungi such as dermatophytes, yeasts and non-dermatophyte fungi.

Two common types of nail fungus:

① Fungal leukonychia (superficial white onychomycosis): This type of lesion is limited to a piece of the nail surface or its tip;

② Subungual fungal infection is divided into distal lateral type, proximal subungual type and superficial white type. This type of lesion starts from the sides or distal end of the nail, and then infection occurs under the nail plate.

The main symptoms are that the affected nail becomes grayish white or grayish black and loses its normal luster. Over time, the nail plate thickens and the surface becomes brittle, rough and uneven. Sometimes it is empty in the middle. This disease is mainly a fungal infection. The main thing is to pay attention to cleanliness and hygiene. When applying the medicine, try to scrape the diseased nail as thin as possible before applying the medicine, otherwise it will not be easily absorbed. The medicine is mainly iodine tinea, acetic acid solution or other antifungal drugs. If accompanied by tinea manuum and tinea pedis, it should be treated in time. Even if the symptoms disappear, you should continue to use the medicine for a period of time.
