How to restore the sense of smell

How to restore the sense of smell

There are many people in life who may suffer organ damage due to trauma, causing loss of smell. People with loss of smell find it difficult to smell anything and are not very sensitive to smells. This can be very painful because they eat everything and smell everything through their sense of smell. This method can be used to promote recovery of loss of smell.

Methods/Steps

1. Lesions of the nasal mucosa, olfactory bulb, and olfactory filaments cause a decrease or loss of olfactory function; whereas damage to the connection to the central nervous system is usually not accompanied by any detectable loss of smell.

2. Due to abnormal development of the olfactory nerve during the embryonic period, loss of smell occurs.

3. Occasionally, temporal lobe lesions are accompanied by temporary or paroxysmal olfactory hallucinations. Loss of smell is often accompanied by impaired taste, depending on the volatile substances in food and beverages.

4. The olfactory damage caused by influenza is temporary.

5. Meningioma, metastasis, or invasive tumors of the anterior cranial fossa or frontal lobe may compress the olfactory bulb and olfactory tract, leading to olfactory impairment.

6. In case of craniocerebral trauma, the olfactory filaments of the olfactory nerve passing through the cribriform plate may be torn, or the olfactory bulb may be torn into pieces (contusion).

Western medicine treatment: Drug treatment can be combined with the cause treatment. There is still a lack of very effective drugs for non-respiratory obstructive olfactory dysfunction. The drugs tried in clinical Western medicine include: vitamins, hormones, zinc treatment, nutritional treatment, etc.

Chinese medicine treatment: Simply put, it is to dispel evil, open the orifices, promote lung ventilation, regulate nerves, and the effective ingredients of Chinese medicine promote the absorption, regression, combination and repair of damaged cells.

Precautions

1. Avoid beef, caffeinated drinks, chocolate, citrus juice, corn, dairy products, eggs, oats, oysters, peanuts, salmon, strawberries, cantaloupe, tomatoes, and wheat.

2. Avoid cold drinks: Overly cold food will reduce immunity and cause respiratory allergies.

3. Avoid eating irritating foods: such as chili peppers, mustard, etc., which can easily irritate the respiratory mucosa.

4. Avoid eating specially processed or refined foods.

5. Avoid foods containing artificial colors: especially yellow No. 5 coloring.

6. Avoid food additives such as vanillin, benzaldehyde, eucalyptol, and monosodium glutamate.

7. You should also eat less animal offal. Habits such as smoking and drinking should be given up.
