The inner wall of the nose hurts when pressed

If we press the nose, we will find pain in the inner wall of the nose, and the condition will recur. This may be a disease called nasal carbuncle. People don't know how to treat nasal carbuncle after suffering from it, so they often ignore it and make the condition worse. For nasal boils, general treatment can relieve symptoms through physical therapy. Today we will introduce the treatment methods of nasal furuncle in detail.

Nasal furuncle is an acute localized suppurative inflammation of the sebaceous glands or hair follicles in the nasal vestibule or nose tip. The main inducing factors are nose picking, nose hair plucking, intense nose friction and certain systemic diseases. Complications include perichondritis of the nasal wings or nose tip, cellulitis of the cheeks and upper lip, orbital cellulitis and cavernous sinus thrombosis.

Symptoms and signs/nasal furuncle

Fever, local pain, headache and recurrent attacks.

(1) There is redness, swelling, and tenderness in the nose, single or multiple, with pus plugs and ulcers;

(2) Swelling, facial swelling, and conjunctival edema.

General treatment:

1. Be careful to avoid spicy, greasy, and irritating foods, eat more vegetables and fruits, and keep your bowel movements smooth.

2. Get rid of the bad habit of picking your nose, actively treat various nasal diseases, and keep your nose clean.

3. If boils are found on the nose, upper lip, or cheek, do not squeeze, prick, or use moxibustion, or perform early incision and drainage to prevent the spread of pus. 4. For patients with recurrent symptoms, attention should be paid to finding the cause, such as diabetes, nephritis, etc., and providing treatment.

Topical treatment:

1. If the nasal carbuncle has not formed pus, antibiotic ointment can be applied.

2. If nasal carbuncle has formed pus plug but has not ruptured, 50% silver nitrate can be used to burn it to promote rupture and pus discharge.

3. Be careful not to make incisions or drainage at this site, and do not squeeze out pus.

Systemic treatment:

1. Patients with systemic symptoms should be treated with antibiotics or sulfonamides.

2. If cavernous sinus thrombosis occurs, active treatment with large doses of antibiotics is necessary.

3. Treatment with traditional Chinese medicine.

Other treatments:

1. In the early stage of nasal carbuncle, if pus head has not formed, hot compress, physical therapy and laser irradiation treatment can be given.

2. Acupuncture treatment.

Safety Tips/Nasal Furuncles

1. Pay attention to skin cleanliness, especially in midsummer. Take a bath, wash your hair, get a haircut, change clothes, and cut your nails frequently. Young children should pay special attention to this. Drink the decoction of honeysuckle and wild chrysanthemum instead of tea.

2. The skin around the boil should be kept clean and applied with 70% alcohol to prevent the infection from spreading to nearby hair follicles.
