Because the metallic activity of magnesium is higher than that of iron, when the magnesium rod and the ordinary steel plate are exposed at the same time, the magnesium rod will corrode first instead of the steel plate, thereby achieving the purpose of protecting the steel liner. How often should the magnesium rod be replaced? Depending on the water quality, the magnesium rod in the enamel tank water heater needs to be replaced every 1 to 2 years. Otherwise, once the magnesium rod is used up, the water heater will quickly corrode and leak.

There are several types of odors in water heaters:

1. The fishy smell is generated by ozone. The electrical insulation is reduced and the electrical contacts are poor. The elimination method is to disassemble the machine and tighten the electrical connections. If it still doesn't work, you have to replace the heating ring.

2. The moldy smell is caused by the corruption of the residual core of bacteria. Add vinegar or salt and heat it, then wash it clean. Make it a habit to keep fresh water in the water for heating after using it every day;

3. Pungent odor. The chlorine gas decomposed by hypochlorous acid and alkane hydrocarbons and benzene gases in tap water can be eliminated by installing a ceramic membrane filter device at the water inlet. It is available on the market.

4. The odor that causes taste nausea is formed by the heavy metals in the pipes under the interaction of oxygen-deficient bacteria and algae. The methods to eliminate it are: one is to replace the pipes, and the other is to install a ceramic membrane filter.

5. The water heater is equipped with a magnesium rod to soften the water. Over time, the magnesium rod and the inside of the water heater will be covered with scale. In addition, if it is not used for a long time, the water accumulated inside will also deteriorate, so there will be a bad smell.
