The occurrence of trachoma causes distress to many patients, because some of them are highly myopic, so they are confused about whether they can wear glasses or contact lenses. Generally speaking, whether trachoma is not suitable for wearing contact lenses, but not all people with trachoma cannot wear contact lenses. It mainly depends on the severity of the disease.

1. Not all people infected with trachoma cannot wear contact lenses. Only those with particularly severe symptoms cannot wear them. Trachoma is a chronic infectious conjunctivitis caused by infection with Chlamydia trachomatis. Symptoms include itchy and painful eyes, fear of light and easy tearing, red particles in the eyelids, and white sticky substances in the eyes.

2. Because contact lenses will come into contact with the cornea and cause damage to it. Trachoma may be accompanied by corneal pannus. If the symptoms are very severe, contact lenses will doubly damage the cornea and should never be worn. Except for severe trachoma, people with other types of corneal lesions or poor hygiene habits are not suitable for wearing contact lenses as it can easily cause damage or infection.

?3. It is recommended that people who wear contact lenses for the first time go to the hospital for an eye health check and follow the doctor's instructions. If the examination shows that the conditions are met, you can go to the eyewear store to get your glasses fitted yourself.

4. The most effective way to prevent trachoma is to pay attention to cleanliness. ① Pay attention to cleanliness and hygiene, wash your hands frequently, cut your nails frequently, do not rub your eyes with your hands, keep your hands clean, and wash your hands with running water before and after meals. ② Please bring your own towels and handkerchiefs. Do not use other people’s or public towels. Each person has his or her own washbasin. ③ Patients with trachoma should not come into contact with children. ④ In collective childcare institutions, each child should have his or her own towel, and each child should have their own towel, basin, and water for washing face. It is best to use running water to wash hands and face. ⑤ Used handkerchiefs and towels should be washed and dried frequently.
