My scalp feels hot when I dye my hair

Hair dyeing is a fashion, but because people go to the wrong places or because they want to save money, they do not buy professional hair dyes, which may cause adverse reactions on the scalp, causing burning pain, and severe itching. In fact, improper use of hair dyes can easily cause cancer, because some chemical substances will remain in the hair dyes, so everyone must use the correct treatment.

Nowadays, hair dyeing has become a fashion.

Not only fashionable young people and beauty-loving ladies pursue colorful hair colors, but many middle-aged and elderly people have also joined the "hair dyeing tribe" in order to retain their youth. However, many people do not know that the chemical ingredients in most hair dyes contain carcinogens, and long-term use will increase the risk of cancer. According to experts, hair dyeing is a process of opening the hair cuticle through physical methods such as heating, which first lightens the dark pigment in the hair and then replaces the original pigment in the hair with the new color in the hair dye, thus presenting the colorful colors people want. Most permanent hair dyes that last more than two weeks use this method.

Dr. Ames of the American Academy of Sciences tested 169 chemical hair dyes and found that 150 of them contained carcinogenic ingredients, accounting for 88% of the total. For example, among the commonly used oxidative hair dyes, there is a substance called 2.4-aminoanisole, which has a strong ability to cause genetic mutations and can easily accumulate in the human body, becoming a breeding ground for cancer cells. For example, hair dyes all contain a chemical ingredient called "azo dye". Without this ingredient, it is difficult for hair dye to color the hair. Even if it can be colored, it will not be permanent and will fall off in a day or two. However, this "azo dye" can easily cause bladder cancer.

According to research, people who use hair dye for more than a year only need their skin to absorb 1% of carcinogenic chemicals to be at risk of cancer. American physiologist Dr. Schaeffer once conducted a survey on 100 breast cancer patients and found that 87% of them had used hair dye for a long time. Generally speaking, the harmful ingredients in hair dyes are more likely to cause leukemia, lymphoma, skin cancer, kidney cancer, and bladder cancer. This is because after entering the human body, hair dyes first dissolve into the blood, causing adverse stimulation to the hematopoietic system. At the same time, they are converted into other compounds and excreted through the skin and urine, causing carcinogenic effects on the skin and urinary tract.

To sum up, there is no doubt that hair dyes are carcinogenic. So how can we minimize the cancer risk of hair dyeing?

1. It is best not to dye your hair. Even if you need to dye your hair, try to increase the interval between two dyeings. The fewer times you dye your hair, the better.

2. Choose a hair dye with a good brand, which will be safer.

3. Cancer patients, people with precancerous lesions, and people with a genetic tendency to cancer should not dye their hair.

4. After dyeing your hair, wash it several times to prevent any residue from remaining on your scalp. Also, avoid scratching your scalp when washing your hair to reduce the absorption of harmful substances.
