The wood is as fine as Dalbergia louboutinensis, and it is the best quality rosewood. Brownish rosewood: The newly cut heartwood is purple-brown or dark reddish-brown, often with black-brown or chestnut-brown stripes. It is produced in Southeast Asia. The heartwood of high quality is purple-red or dark reddish brown, and the tangential section has fish skin texture similar to that of the belly of yellow croaker. There are also types of rosewood with special textures. Some have light-colored stripes like muscle fibers on the tangential section, which slightly resemble the "V"-shaped texture of rosewood; some have tangential-section patterns that are twisted, exaggerated, and gorgeous.
