The difference between four-dimensional and cardiac color Doppler ultrasound

Giving birth to a new life is a sacred and solemn thing. During this process, the pregnant mother and her family will take good care of the new life and go to the hospital for physical examinations regularly. This is to detect problems in time when the baby is developing. Sometimes in clinical practice, there are examples of fetal malformations. Both four-dimensional and cardiac color ultrasound can detect fetal malformations in time. So what is the difference between the two?

The difference between four-dimensional color Doppler ultrasound and cardiac color Doppler ultrasound

The advantage of four-dimensional color ultrasound is that it can detect and screen fetal malformations, providing an accurate scientific basis for the early diagnosis of fetal congenital surface malformations and congenital heart.

Fetal cardiac color Doppler ultrasound is an instrument specifically for the fetal heart that can dynamically display the structure of the fetal heart cavity, the pulsation of the fetal heart, and the blood flow. However, at present, cardiac color ultrasound has gradually been replaced by four-dimensional color ultrasound.

What does four-dimensional color ultrasound check?

1. Fetal facial deformity: Focus on checking the fetus's eyes to see if they are round and the same size. Also measure the distance between the eyes and check if the hard palate, soft palate and upper lip arc curves are continuous or interrupted. Then check the fetus's neck to see if there is any abnormal mass.

2. Nervous system: When examining the fetal brain, the first thing to screen is skull deformities, including anencephaly, hydrocephalus, microcephaly, spina bifida, and meningocele.

3. Digestive system: Check for umbilical megacolon, enterocele, intestinal atresia, visceral prolapse, etc. Short limb deformity, conjoined twins, congenital heart disease and teratopathy, etc.

4. Body deformity: four-dimensional color ultrasound examination. Screening for spinal deformity should focus on checking whether the spine has any bulges, whether the arrangement is disordered, whether there are interruptions in the light bands, whether there are any lumps in the sacrum and coccyx, etc. Limb deformities may also be seen.

5. Urinary system: Four-dimensional color ultrasound can examine the urinary system. Including hydronephrosis, polycystic kidney disease, megacystis, urethral obstruction, etc.

6. Amniotic fluid: Four-dimensional color ultrasound can check amniotic fluid. Problems such as excessive amniotic fluid and insufficient amniotic fluid can be detected.
