What are the symptoms of scabies?

Scabies is a relatively common human parasite. Like mites, this parasite can parasitize in every corner of the human skin, causing some damage to people's skin and causing patients to have various skin disease symptoms. Scabies is very small and almost difficult to find. Therefore, it is also very difficult to diagnose the specific cause of the disease. Let's take a look at the signs of scabies.

When infected with scabies, the first symptom is itchy skin, with small rashes, blisters or scabs appearing at the itchy area. The itching is very severe, usually lighter during the day and worse at night. Due to scratching, the patient is often covered with scratches, even bloodstains, and has difficulty sleeping. After the scabies mite penetrates the epidermis, it usually takes a latent period of 20-30 days for the rash and itching symptoms to appear.

The initial rash is often seen on moist and soft skin, such as the skin between the fingers and wrists, which is easy to penetrate the host and then spread to other parts of the body, such as the elbows, waist, armpits, abdomen and genitals. Before liberation, there was a saying among the people that "scabies is like a dragon, first moving up the hands, then circling three times around the waist, and finally setting up camp on the legs."

Specific symptoms

(1) Scratches and blood scabs: Scabies patients have severe itching and scratch unconsciously, which often leads to scratches and blood scabs on the skin.

(2) Secondary eczematous changes: Due to the irritation of the skin by the secretions of scabies and factors such as scratching, the skin will develop lesions such as erythema, papules, and blisters. This is secondary eczematous changes, which often aggravates the itching.

(3) Secondary infection: Due to scratching, poor hygiene, or hot weather and excessive sweating, the skin is prone to secondary infection, resulting in symptoms such as secondary impetigo and superficial lymphadenopathy.

(4) Secondary nephritis is caused by secondary infection of scabies. The secretions of scabies and bacterial infection can act as antigens on the human body, resulting in nephritis. Patients may feel fatigue, edema, back pain, etc.
