Symptoms of hormone acne

Hormonal acne is a type of acne caused by hormones. It is also a disease that has a dual impact on a person's image and skin health. There are many clinical manifestations of hormonal acne, such as whiteheads, blackheads, inflammatory papules, pustules, nodules and cysts, which are all common symptoms of thyroid hormone. Next, I will introduce to you the symptoms of hormonal acne!

1. Whiteheads

The opening of the sebaceous gland of the hair follicle is blocked by keratinocytes, and is filled with keratinized substances and sebum, which prevents it from communicating with the outside world, forming closed comedones, which appear as slightly protruding whiteheads. They appear as tiny subcutaneous sebum plugs, most of which are hemispherical white packages the size of rice grains, which are hard in texture and cause no discomfort to the patients themselves.

2. Blackheads

There are generally two types of skin lesions of blackheads: one is characterized by enlarged pores and densely packed blackheads all over the face, with a black plug on the surface. After removal, it becomes a sebaceous flaky colloid substance that is black in the front, yellow in the middle, and white in the inside. The second symptom is that there is no redness or swelling on the surface. Before blackheads are fully formed, patients abuse external medications or squeeze them improperly, which then turns into red and swollen acne.

3. Inflammatory papules

Inflammatory papules are divided into infectious inflammatory papules and non-infectious inflammatory papules, and they will manifest differently depending on individual constitution and the severity of the disease.

Pustules

Pustules refer to cavities formed on or under the epidermis, with pus as the contents of herpes. The opening of the sebaceous gland of the hair follicle is blocked and cannot communicate with the outside world, and whiteheads are formed first, with slightly raised whiteheads appearing on the surface. When whiteheads worsen, papules will form, and when the papules become further inflamed and aggravated, pustules will form.

5. Nodules

The main symptoms of nodular acne are rashes, which are usually red or dark red nodules ranging in size from peas to cherries. The inflammation is deep, suppuration is slow, and there is pain. It subsides slowly and can easily leave scars if not treated properly. It usually develops from pustular acne.

6. Cyst

The cysts are round in shape, with small ones being the size of beans and large ones being several centimeters in diameter. Sometimes blackheads appear at the opening of the sebaceous glands, and white paste-like sebum may come out when squeezed. Generally there is no other discomfort. If an infection occurs, it will become red and swollen, and it will be very painful when squeezed. In severe cases, it may become purulent and ulcerated.
