What are the complications that gingivitis can cause

I think everyone has experienced marginal gingivitis. The lesions are mainly located in the free gingiva and gingival papillae. It is the most common type of gum disease. Generally, the gums will bleed, swell and hurt. It is also accompanied by bad breath. Teeth are very important to us, so if these symptoms appear on our teeth, we must face them squarely. Not only will it affect our dental health, but it will also be accompanied by many complications which are very scary.

One is heart disease.

After studying more than a thousand cases, foreign countries found that the rate of heart disease in patients with gingivitis is three times higher than that of ordinary people. The reason is that certain bacteria can enter the blood through the cracks in the gums, and then affect the liver, causing it to produce a protein that can block arteries and cause arterial embolism. The specific way in which bacteria cause heart disease is still a mystery, but scientists have discovered an oral bacterium in fatty arterial embolism; oral bacteria are more threatening to people who already have heart disease. Some patients with dental diseases may encounter such a situation. If they also suffer from cardiovascular disease, doctors ask patients to take antibiotics before treating oral diseases to prevent a large number of microorganisms from entering the blood during oral surgery and causing bacterial endocarditis.

The second is stroke.

Relevant foreign institutions conducted a follow-up survey on nearly 10,000 people between the ages of 25 and 75, and found that patients with severe gingivitis were twice as likely to suffer from stroke as other people. Medical scientists explained that oral bacteria can cause fat embolism in the carotid artery. If this fat mass swims up to the brain and blocks a blood vessel in the gray matter, it will cause a stroke.

The third is diabetes.

When diabetic patients are attacked by bacteria, insulin cannot work effectively, which will increase blood sugar levels. A foreign study of 168 diabetic patients found that those with severe gingivitis found it difficult to control blood sugar levels. Endocrinologists recommend that people with a family history of diabetes should go to the hospital as soon as possible to check if they have diabetes when their gums are infected.

Fourth, gastric ulcer,

According to a foreign research, the bacteria that cause gastric ulcers live on dental plaque. Researchers investigated 242 patients with gastric ulcers and found the bacteria in the mouths of 210 of them. This shows the relationship between oral hygiene and gastric ulcers.

The fifth is pneumonia.

Medical research shows that every time people breathe, a large number of bacteria enter the lungs, causing respiratory diseases. At the same time, they live in people's mouths. Although the human immune system can eliminate them, if people's immunity is low for a period of time, these bacteria will take advantage of the opportunity to enter and may cause bacterial pneumonia.
