What are the effects and functions of Gui Ge Zhen?

Main functions :

For treating malaria : 8-12 liang of fresh ghost grass. Decoction, add an egg and cook.

To treat jaundice : 50 cents each of Bidens pilosa L. and Oak leaves, and 1 liang of Green pine needles. Decoction.

Treat hepatitis : Bidens pilosa and Cottonseed chrysanthemum each 1.5 to 2 liang. Add 1000 ml of water and boil until 500 ml. Take several times a day until finished.

To treat acute nephritis : Take 50 cents of Bidens pilosa leaves (cut into small pieces), boil them into a soup, add an egg, add appropriate amount of sesame oil or tea oil, cook and eat, take once a day.

To treat migraine : 1 liang of Bidens pilosa and 3 jujubes. Decoction in water and drink warm.

To treat stomach pain : 15 grams of fresh Bidens pilosa. Stew it with 4 ounces of pork, add a little wine, and take it before meals.

To treat bleeding in urine and stool : 50 cents to 1 ounce of fresh Bidens pilosa leaves. Take it as a decoction.

To treat injuries from falls : 1 to 2 liang of fresh Bidens pilosa L. whole herb (half the amount for dried herb). Decoction in water, add one or two liang of rice wine, drink it warm, once a day, usually take it three times in a row.

Treat weakness in the limbs : Herba Lycopodii. Take it as a decoction.

For treating snake bites and insect bites : Take 2 liang of fresh Bidens elata herb, add water as needed, boil it into half a bowl, and drink it while warm; mash the residue and apply it to the wound, repeat twice a day.

To treat gas gangrene : wash the whole herb of fresh Bidens pilosa L. with cold boiled water, and use the decoction for fumigation and washing.

Bleeding from metallurgical sores : Mash fresh Bidens pilosa leaves and apply to the wound.

【 Clinical Application 】

①Treatment of appendicitis

Take 0.5-1 liang of dried Bidens pilosa L. (1.5 liang of fresh Bidens pilosa L.) and decoct it or add rock sugar, honey and milk to take, one dose per day.

② Treating diarrhea in children

Take 6 to 10 fresh Bidens pilosa (3 to 5 dried ones), soak them in water and boil them into a concentrated juice. Pour the juice into a basin with the residue and use it to fumigate and wash the feet of the sick child. For mild diarrhea, fumigate 3 to 4 times a day, and for severe diarrhea, fumigate 6 times a day. Wash the soles of feet for children aged 1 to 5 years old, and wash the soles of feet for children aged 5 to 15 years old. The fumigation and washing position can be appropriately raised for those with severe diarrhea. There is a folk saying that fumigation and washing beyond the inner ankle will cause constipation, but this has yet to be confirmed.
