If we do not pay attention to our diet or are careless about it, we may develop stomach problems. After stomach problems occur, some patients may have to take medication to make the symptoms disappear and to control and treat the stomach problems. Rabeprazole is a drug commonly used to treat stomach problems. So, what side effects will rabeprazole cause? Next, the experts will explain. Adverse reactions were reported in 22 cases (1.77%) out of a total of 1,244 cases in Japan. In addition, 82 cases (6.59%) were reported to have abnormal clinical examination values (at the time of approval). 1. Serious adverse reactions (1) Shock: There are reports that similar drugs (omeprazole, lansoprazole) may occasionally cause allergic reactions or shock. Therefore, when any abnormal condition is observed, the medication should be discontinued and appropriate treatment should be taken. (2) Pancytopenia, thrombocytopenia, and agranulocytosis: If pancytopenia (probability unknown), thrombocytopenia (less than 0.1% to 5%), or agranulocytosis (probability unknown) occurs, once confirmed, the drug should be discontinued and appropriate treatment should be given. In addition, similar drugs (omeprazole, lansoprazole) have been reported to cause hemolytic anemia. (3) Liver dysfunction: Because liver dysfunction (less than 0.1% to 5%) and jaundice (probability unknown) may occur, once confirmed, the drug should be discontinued and appropriate treatment should be given. 2. Serious adverse reactions (foreign cases) Visual impairment: There have been reports of visual impairment caused by the use of similar drugs (omeprazole) abroad. 3. Other adverse reactions 0.1%~5% or less Less than 0.1% Unknown incidence Skin rash, urticaria, itching Erythropenia, leukocytopenia, leukocytosis, eosinophilia, neutrophilia, lymphocytopenia anemia Liver: elevated GOT, GPT, ALP, γ-GTP, LDH, and total bilirubin Circulatory system Palpitations Digestive system Constipation, diarrhea, bloating, nausea, lower abdominal pain, indigestion Psychoneural system Headache Dizziness, drowsiness, weakness, loss of sensation, weak grip, slurred speech, unsteady gait, delusions, lethargy, loss of cognitive ability other Edema, total cholesterol, neutral fat, BUN increase, proteinuria, fatigue, fever, blurred vision, dizziness Note 1): If such symptoms occur, the medication should be discontinued. Note 2): Blood tests should be performed regularly during medication. If any abnormality is found, the medication should be terminated and appropriate treatment should be taken. Note 3): Blood biochemistry examination should be performed regularly during medication. If any abnormality is found, the medication should be terminated and appropriate treatment should be taken. Note 4): There are reports of patients with cirrhosis experiencing weakness in the limbs, dysesthesia, weak grip, slurred speech, unsteady gait, delusions, lethargy, and loss of cognitive ability. In addition, it was reported that a patient with cirrhosis and a history of hepatic encephalopathy abroad developed mental confusion and drowsiness. 【Taboo】 Patients who are allergic to rabeprazole sodium, benzimidazole metabolites or excipients. 【Notes】 Patients should be carefully observed during treatment and the cumulative dose should be kept at the lowest dose required for disease treatment as much as possible. Before using rabeprazole sodium to treat gastric or esophageal diseases, the possibility of gastric or esophageal malignancy should be excluded. Patients receiving long-term treatment (especially those treated for more than one year) should be monitored regularly. Patients should be aware that Polit tablets should not be chewed or crushed and should be swallowed whole. Patients with a history of drug allergy should use this product with caution. In addition, there are reports of adverse mental and nervous system reactions in patients with cirrhosis after taking the drug. Therefore, patients with liver damage should use the drug with caution. 【Use during pregnancy and lactation】 Since there are no strictly controlled clinical studies and use experience in pregnant women, it should only be used when the therapeutic benefits outweigh the possible risks to the fetus. It is not known whether rabeprazole sodium can be secreted into human milk (it has been observed in animal experiments that the drug is secreted into breast milk), and there are currently no studies on breastfeeding women. Therefore, rabeprazole sodium should not be prescribed to breastfeeding women. If treatment with rabeprazole sodium is essential, breast-feeding should be discontinued. 【Medication for children】 Not recommended for use in children and no experience with use. |
