Is ALT 73 serious?

Alanine aminotransferase is mainly present in the liver, heart and bones. Damage or necrosis of certain tissues will lead to an increase in alanine aminotransferase in the blood. Therefore, many people currently do not pay attention to their lives, often drink and smoke, and eat some toxic foods, which will cause liver damage and cause lesions. Severe cases can even cause liver cancer, which has a great impact on the human body.

Elevated alanine aminotransferase (also known as glutamate transaminase, alanine aminotransferase, abbreviated as GPT, ALT) is a very common phenomenon in clinical practice. The liver is the largest detoxification organ in the human body. Whether this organ is normal or not is very important to the human body. Elevated GPT is an important indicator of liver function problems.

Among the common factors, various types of hepatitis can cause elevated GPT, which is caused by damage to the liver. Some drugs, such as anti-tumor drugs and anti-tuberculosis drugs, can cause liver damage. Drinking large amounts of alcohol and eating certain foods can also cause short-term damage to liver function. Long-term elevation of alanine aminotransferase can cause lesions, and in severe cases can cause liver cancer.

Clinical diagnosis

Alanine aminotransferase is mainly found in the liver, heart and skeletal muscle. Damage or necrosis of liver cells or certain tissues will increase the alanine aminotransferase in the blood. There are many clinical diseases that can cause abnormal transaminase and must be identified.

1. Viral hepatitis is the most common disease that causes elevated transaminase levels. All types of acute and chronic viral hepatitis can lead to elevated transaminase levels.

2. Many drugs and chemicals in toxic hepatitis can cause elevated transaminases, but they return to normal after drug withdrawal.

3. Alanine aminotransferase levels may also increase in people who drink a lot or for a long time.

4. When cirrhosis and liver cancer cirrhosis are active, transaminases are higher than normal levels and should be treated actively.

5. Acute attacks of biliary diseases such as cholecystitis and cholelithiasis often cause fever, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, jaundice, and elevated blood bilirubin and transaminase.

6. In cases of heart disease such as acute myocardial infarction, myocarditis, and heart failure, both alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase are elevated, and patients often have chest pain, palpitations, shortness of breath, and edema. Cardiac examination showed positive signs and abnormal electrocardiogram.

7. Certain other infectious diseases, such as pneumonia, typhoid fever, tuberculosis, infectious mononucleosis, etc., have elevated transaminase levels, but these diseases each have typical clinical manifestations and can be diagnosed with the help of laboratory tests. In addition, acute soft tissue injury and strenuous exercise may also cause transient elevation of transaminase levels. So you need to go to the hospital for a more comprehensive examination to find out the cause and deal with it in time.
