Can I still use the non-stick pan if the coating falls off?

I believe that everyone uses them quite frequently in daily life, and the pot is ranked first among the pots and pans. In the beginning, it was an earthen pot, then it gradually became an iron pot. With the development of technology, a new pot was brought about, the non-stick pot. The principle of a non-stick pan is to coat the surface of the pan with a layer of substance that prevents sticking. However, after long-term use, the non-stick coating on the surface of the non-stick pan will fall off. So can the non-stick pan still be used after the coating falls off?

1. Reduced security

Most non-stick pan coatings are made of Teflon as raw material. When the non-stick pan coating falls off, the pan body will release about 6 toxic gases when heated, two of which contain carcinogenic factors, and it is easy to release colorless and odorless harmful gases even at low temperatures.

2. It will start to stick to the pan

The original intention of buying a non-stick pan is to make the dishes beautiful and neat when cooking, but once the non-stick coating falls off, the non-stick effect will be much worse and cleaning will become troublesome.

3. Do not dry burn

A non-stick pan cannot be dried out without adding oil. Generally, when cooking, you add an appropriate amount of oil first. A non-stick pan cannot be dried out even more. If you do not add oil, the temperature inside the pan will suddenly rise, and the Teflon in the coating will become unstable or even decompose. This is the principle that high temperature will have a certain impact on non-stick pans and easily cause the coating to fall off.

4. Don’t wash hot pots and cold water

Many people are used to washing the pot after cooking, which is a good habit of cleanliness, but non-stick pots cannot be cleaned in this way. Because a non-stick pan has two parts, one is the pan body, the other is the coating. When it is heated and then cooled down, it is easy to cause the pan body and the coating to separate due to thermal expansion and contraction.

Recommendation: Wait until the pot has cooled down before cleaning with cold water, or clean with warm water before the pot cools down.

Even when you are not cooking, you should still pay attention to keeping the cooking utensils clean and tidy. The service life of non-stick pans is not long, so in order to extend the service life of non-stick pans, you should pay more attention to cleaning on a daily basis to prevent additional damage.
