What should I do if my tooth enamel falls off?

It is very important for us. We need to chew any food with our teeth. However, some people's teeth will be very sore when they eat sour, sweet, cold or hot foods, so they dare not chew food. Usually this kind of teeth is commonly known as dentin hypersensitivity, and this disease is called dentin hypersensitivity in dentistry. The peak age of onset of tooth decay is around 40 years old. It is more common in people with symptoms such as enamel defects or poor development of periodontal atrophy. Usually, this type of people do not pay attention to protecting their teeth and often use their teeth to eat hard things, which causes damage to the tooth enamel. So what should you do if your tooth enamel falls off?

1. Introduction

"Inverted teeth" is medically known as tooth hypersensitivity, also known as dentin sensitivity. It refers to the abnormal soreness and pain in the teeth when they encounter external stimuli that do not react within the normal physiological range when the dentin is partially exposed or the body's resistance is reduced, such as: temperature (cold, hot), chemical (sour, sweet, salty, spicy), mechanical (brushing teeth, rubbing hard objects), etc. The most typical symptoms are rapid onset, sharp pain and short duration. The outermost layer of teeth is enamel, which is often referred to as "enamel". Tooth enamel is translucent milky white and very hard, protecting the essence of the tooth from damage. However, if you do not pay attention to protecting your teeth and often use your teeth to bite hard things, the tooth enamel will gradually wear out and even fall off. When tooth enamel is lost or worn away, the true nature of the tooth is exposed. There are many nerves connected to the dentin, so it is quite sensitive. When we eat sour food, the nerves are stimulated and we naturally feel sore. This phenomenon is called dentin hypersensitivity in medicine, and is also commonly known as "reverse teeth". Elderly people are generally prone to this dentin hypersensitivity phenomenon. As they age, their tooth enamel wears out more and more.

2. Treatment methods

1. If you find wedge-shaped defects on your teeth, go to the hospital's dental department for treatment in time.

2. Pay attention to oral hygiene, develop good habits of vertical brushing, and rinse your mouth with warm water.

3. Avoid eating food that is too cold or too hot.

4. When going out in winter, do not inhale cold air directly. Wear a mask for protection.

5. Don’t eat too hard food to reduce excessive wear on your teeth. Chew food with both sides, not one side.

6. Brush your teeth with medicated toothpaste such as desensitizing toothpaste and cold acid toothpaste. Apply the paste to the sensitive areas of the teeth for 3-5 minutes when brushing your teeth so that the drug ingredients can fully contact the teeth.

7. Chew ordinary dry tea leaves for 3-5 minutes. The tannic acid in the tea leaves can increase the resistance of the dental nerve to stimulation, thereby reducing the sensitivity of the dental nerve.

8. Patients with severe dentin hypersensitivity should go to a regular specialist hospital for desensitization treatment in time.

3. Notes

If symptoms of enamel loss occur, you must take it seriously. You can adjust it by using a large set of methods, or you can use medication to relieve the symptoms of tooth discomfort. If tooth pain occurs, you must go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible.
