In the conservative treatment of cervical spondylosis, cervical massage is a very important treatment method.

Massage Techniques

Push

Technique: Using fingers, palms, elbows, etc. to perform unidirectional linear motion on a certain part is called pushing method. During operation, fingers, palms, elbows, etc. should be close to the body surface, move slowly, and use even and penetrating force.

Function: It has the functions of eliminating accumulation and relieving stagnation, relieving spasms and pain, eliminating blood stasis and dispersing nodules, and unblocking the meridians and tendons. It can increase muscle excitability and promote blood circulation.

Technique: Use the thumb and index and middle fingers, or the thumb and the other four fingers to apply relative force, to pinch and loosen certain parts and acupoints, which is called the Na method. The force should be from light to heavy, continuous and rhythmic, gentle and coherent. The contact point should be on the fingertips rather than the fingertips, and the wrist should be relaxed.

Effect : The holding method has strong stimulation and is often used in combination with other techniques on the neck, shoulders, limbs and other parts. It has the effects of dispelling wind and cold, relaxing muscles and tendons, relieving spasms, eliminating muscle soreness and mental fatigue, and is widely used in cervical massage.

Kneading

Technique: Use the thumb and index and middle fingers, or the thumb and other four fingers to squeeze the skin with force. This is called kneading. The force should be even and rhythmic.

Finger pressing is applicable to acupoints all over the body; palm pressing is often used on the waist, back and lower limbs; elbow pressing has the greatest pressure and is mostly used on the waist, back, buttocks and thighs.

Point Method

Technique: Use the fingertips, flexed interphalangeal joints or elbow tips to concentrate force and apply it to the treatment area or acupoints, which is called point method. The operation requires accurate positioning and deep force.

Function: It has the functions of opening blockages, promoting blood circulation and relieving pain, relieving spasms, and adjusting the functions of internal organs. It is suitable for all parts of the body and acupoints.

Technique: Attach the palm or the thenar or hypothenar to a certain part and rub back and forth in a straight line, which is called rubbing method. The amplitude of the movement should be large, close to the skin, the force should be small, the movement should be even, and the frequency should be about 100 times per minute.
