What causes red cheeks

What causes red cheeks

From a medical point of view, red cheeks are also called hot flushing. It has both physiological and pathological reasons. The physiological reasons mainly refer to excessive exercise and accelerated blood circulation, which often manifest as red cheeks. In addition, emotional factors and hot weather can also easily cause facial hot flushing. What we need to be vigilant about is that this phenomenon is caused by some diseases. For example, some cardiovascular diseases can easily induce such a phenomenon. So when the cheeks turn red, we must understand what the cause is. If it is just a physiological reason, we just need to do a good job of skin care and health care.

1. Redness of the cheeks is both physiological and pathological.

Some healthy people have good peripheral blood circulation, a little activity, and look relatively optimistic; some people blush when they are ashamed, angry, or embarrassed; some people may blush due to drinking; people living in the mountains, because the air is thinner, the body needs more red blood cells to absorb enough oxygen, and once the hemoglobin carried by red blood cells increases, the color of the face will be red; some people blush during menopause, and some people may blush due to systemic diseases.

2. From a medical point of view, red is due to temperature changes or emotions

More likely than other reds, the color is deeper and lasts for a long time. The existence of blood vessels in the skin is affected by nerve factors to expand and contract, especially the cheeks are rich in capillaries, so the cheeks are redder. Red only occurs in winter and is closely related to temperature changes.

3. Generally speaking, heat can cause blood vessels in the skin to become congested, causing facial flushing.

Although blood vessels contract when cold, when the temperature rises, they will cause the blood vessels to expand against elasticity and turn red. But some people may also develop redness and abnormal blood vessels in very cold temperatures. The clinical manifestations on the face are filamentous, dot-like, star-like or flake-like.

4. When the temperature is too high

For example, the cold wind from an air-conditioned room is sometimes hot and sometimes the capillaries lose elasticity, repeatedly contracting and expanding, which is reflected in the cheeks and nose, and the flushing of the cheeks will cause stinging. In the early stages, the face turns red and can return to its original state, but if it recurs over a long period of time, the blood vessels will contract, lose their dilation function, and harden excessively in the expanded state, causing the face to appear red. In severe cases, symptoms of head flushing may occur on the head. This symptom is relatively calm in spring, summer, autumn and winter.

5. Avoid drastic changes in temperature and cold environment in winter

Pay attention to the moisture and warmth of the skin, especially the internal dryness and high temperature, if the face feels dry, pay it in time and then wash it with warm water. Outside, it can be used to prevent cold air masks or respirators from directly invading the face, avoiding excessive temperature differences, which will cause the dilated microvessels to shrink rapidly and form red blood vessels. People with a history of facial frostbite should wipe their faces frequently in winter to promote blood circulation.
