How to protect gum recession?

How to protect gum recession?

If you do not pay attention to oral hygiene, the gums will shrink over time, which is very harmful to dental health and oral health. In daily life, in order to prevent gum shrinkage, do not use too much force when brushing your teeth, try not to eat hard food, avoid the habit of chewing food on one side, and of course pay attention to developing good oral hygiene habits.

1. Using too much force when brushing your teeth

The sign is that the bristles of your toothbrush begin to bend after 2-3 months of use (without contact with hot water). Brushing your teeth too hard can cause excessive wear between the enamel and dentin on the surface of the teeth, resulting in tooth sensitivity, pulp exposure, and even gum damage and receding, exposing the embedded tooth roots.

2. Biting hard food

There are some developmental grooves and fusion lines running vertically through the teeth. After chewing hard objects too much, a phenomenon similar to metal fatigue will appear in the teeth, causing cracks to appear in these weak spots, leading to tooth fractures. In severe cases, the teeth need to be extracted.

3. Chewing on one side

Concentrating on one side when chewing will cause an imbalance in the development of muscles, joints and jaws. In mild cases, it will affect the appearance. In severe cases, it will cause excessive wear of unilateral teeth and dysfunction of the jaw joint.

4. Take medicine at will

If a pregnant woman takes tetracyclines from 4 months into her pregnancy until her child is 7 years old, the tetracyclines taken during this period will combine with dentin and darken the teeth. In more serious cases, it will hinder the development of tooth tissue and cause surface defects.

5. Pick your teeth

Picking teeth is one of the traditional bad habits of the Chinese people. The poor soft gums can only continue to recede, exposing the tooth neck and even the tooth root, causing tooth sensitivity and increasing the chance of caries and periodontitis.

6. Grit your teeth

People who often bite their teeth so hard that they make a clicking sound will suffer excessive tooth wear and are prone to symptoms such as tooth fractures.

7. Use your teeth as tools

Use your teeth to open bottle corks and chew on sutures. These habits can easily cause teeth to break or shift out of place.
