How to check for decreased diastolic function?

Regular physical examinations are very important for a person. Not only can they identify some physical symptoms in time, but also can understand some components of one's own body to ensure that one has no inflammation. Some minor symptoms of the disease can also be discovered early. It is necessary to plan for the examination of heart function early. If the heart's diastolic function is reduced, it is necessary to do a good job of electrocardiogram testing on a regular basis to prevent adverse conditions.

Heart examination items

As people pay more attention to health, physical examinations have become a part of people's lives. During physical examinations or medical consultations, we often come into contact with some heart examinations. What are the purpose and significance of these tests? What are their advantages and disadvantages?

Routine electrocardiogram

The basic item of cardiac examination is routine electrocardiogram, which can determine whether there is myocardial ischemia or arrhythmia. Not only people with symptoms such as chest pain and palpitations need to have routine electrocardiograms, but anyone suspected of having heart problems (such as children with myocarditis, etc.) and physical examinations (especially physical examinations for people over 50 years old) need to have an electrocardiogram.

Advantages: Simple and fast, obvious abnormalities can be easily discovered.

Disadvantages: Conventional electrocardiograms can only reflect conditions over a short period of time, usually 1 minute. Many people's heart abnormalities are intermittent, and often the abnormalities do not appear when an electrocardiogram is performed. In this case, the electrocardiogram cannot serve as a screening test. For example, when a patient with coronary heart disease has an electrocardiogram before the disease occurs, abnormal changes may not be obvious, but a normal electrocardiogram does not mean the problem. For patients with typical symptoms, if no abnormalities are found in the electrocardiogram when the symptoms are not occurring, the doctor may ask the patient to repeat the electrocardiogram when a heart attack occurs, or perform dynamic electrocardiogram monitoring.

24-hour dynamic electrocardiogram

The person being examined wears a special recorder that continuously records the changes in the electrocardiogram of the heart when it is active and at rest for 24 hours. During the examination, the subject's daily life should be the same as before wearing the bandage, and physical discomfort and exercise time within 24 hours should be recorded in detail, such as when eating, when walking, etc., so as to match them with the electrocardiogram records one by one, providing a reliable basis for the doctor's diagnosis and treatment.

Advantages: It can record the patient's electrocardiogram for 24 hours, capture paroxysmal arrhythmias, and record their occurrence time, number and distribution status, whether there is transient angina pectoris, myocardial ischemia, and the cause and occurrence time of the attack, etc. It can also perform differential diagnosis on some patients who often have symptoms of cardiovascular disease but have no problems found in a single routine electrocardiogram.

Disadvantages: It requires the cooperation of the patient and needs to be worn at any time for 24 hours. Some patients may feel a little inconvenient. The 24-hour dynamic electrocardiogram should be a supplement to the conventional electrocardiogram, but it cannot replace the conventional electrocardiogram.
