How to treat a fractured knee?

Bone fractures are different from bone fractures. A bone fracture is just a crack on the bone, while a bone fracture is when the entire bone is broken. Therefore, compared with a bone fracture, a bone fracture is still very minor. However, a bone fracture cannot be ignored. You should pay attention to treatment and do more rehabilitation exercises.

1. Emergency treatment

In case of avulsion fracture (the injured part will usually swell quickly and be very painful), do not move the injured part (mostly occurs in the ankle, knee, and elbow joints), and quickly go to the hospital for examination and treatment in the emergency department, surgery department, and radiology department.

After fixation of avulsion fracture, the key is to pay attention to rest, reduce activities of the damaged part and keep warm.

2. General treatment

Treatment requires medication as well as instruments or acupuncture, and also requires strengthening the nearby muscle groups, especially the small muscle groups. Remember, it is the knee muscle groups, not the thighs. Of course, the thighs also need to be trained, but the main focus is on the knees.

It is recommended that the half squat should not be too deep, at an angle of 30 to 45 degrees, and the half squat time should not be too long, more than 10 minutes and less than 20 minutes; if this does not work, you can squat shallower, but the time should be more than 10 minutes. During the treatment, you can combine it with traditional Chinese medicine, such as taking some blood-activating and blood-stasis-removing medicines or doing some self-rehabilitation physical therapy exercises.

Local symptoms of bone fracture

1. Local pain and tenderness

However, pain will occur due to local tissue damage or muscle spasm after a bone fracture. There will also be obvious tenderness and longitudinal percussion pain in the affected area.

2. Local swelling, bruises and skin abrasions

After a bone fracture, local blood vessels are damaged, the collaterals are blocked, and swelling may occur. If there is a lot of bleeding at the fracture site and it overflows under the skin, it will form a spot. If the myofascia at the fracture site is intact and bleeding cannot overflow, or if the circulation is obstructed due to compression by the broken ends, the pressure in the myofascial area may continue to increase, affecting the perfusion of arterial blood, thereby causing muscle ischemia and hypoxia. In severe cases, it may lead to muscle necrosis and ischemic muscle contracture.

3. Local dysfunction

After a bone fracture, the internal support of the limb is destroyed, the limb loses its proper leverage, and pain causes muscle reflex spasm, so the limb function may be partially restricted or completely lost. However, greenstick fractures and impacted fractures do not necessarily have obvious functional impairments, and careful examination is required to prevent missed diagnosis.
